Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use! I bought the string trimmer for my husbands birthday to add to the ever growing DeWalt collection at our house and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s so easy to crank, there is no string to pull and no refueling! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great for medium sized jobs! I bought this string trimmer about a year ago for use in my lawn care business. About 1 month in the bump feed head would no longer work and I had to hand feed the trim line. I bought a new Stihl branded head and it screwed right on. Now after a year of using the tool, I am in love with it! It’s not as heavy or as loud as a gas powered trimmer. The battery and the electric motor that is used with the trimmer delivers instant torque and is so much easier to just pick up and get right into the job. Overall the tool is great, he only reason I am giving a four star review, is because the battery life is just not what it needs to be. I have to carry at least 2 extra batteries for medium sized jobs and sometimes those do not even last. Anyways, I believe this was a good investment and if anyone is looking for a string trimmer, this is the one to pick. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Power! I was pretty shocked when I used this weed-eater. I always thought electric/battery power were not strong enough but was proven wrong. Since I already have a lot of 20V tools I went ahead and tried this. The 5AH battery that came with it lasts long enough I can do my front and back yard twice without having to charge it. I even go through blackberries with this. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Powerful I have had gas and other electric trimmers in the past and this is very powerful for being electric. One downside I would say is that the guard doesn't always protect your feet. It's possible I am holding it wrong but I feel the angle of the shaft could help with being hit by flying clippings. With that said I would buy this again as I love the lightweight and power and I love that I can interchange batteries with my other dewalt tools. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy I bought this about 2 months ago, I am in the process of building my dewalt collection and this trimmer is just another tool that never fails to impress. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastictic features for a woman I bought this to trim around my pasture fence, the battery doesn't last long enough so I bought an extra battery. Now I trim all along my fence line. The trimmer does an amazing job and I love no pull rope to start, which is hard for me to do. Amazing product will buy more Dewalt battery oroducts. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and easy for a small yard I was hesitant about buying a battery powered trimmer since I have always been a gas powered owner. But, I needed something simple and quick. This trimmer did the job. I don't have a large yard and I mainly trim around the house. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my best buys I am from a small island in Alaska made mostly of rock, but I have a decent yard and I do a lot of side jobs for people who have big yards. In July I bought this weedwacker and used it casually. But today I put it to the test. My friend was selling his house and asked me to come help.him with landscaping. With the 5ah battery it comes with I crushed 80 by 40 feet of yard. I'm a hardcore dewalt guy sonic had plenty of batteries to spare, and with only one 4ah I finished the entire perimeter of this house. I finally was able to put my dewalt weed wacker. It performed not knmh as well but any gas powered weed wacker I have ever used. If you are a dewalt man, and have even one more battery, you can tackle any task. This battery brings you far and the charger charges almost as fast as my dewalt jobsite charger. You'll do everything. I can't recommend any weed wacker higher than this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can't change the string From what I can tell there is no way to reload the string I have never had this problem with any other trimmer. The instruction manual is of no help since it has a completely different bump head in it. this is basically a very expensive throw away machine, once the string runs out it's useless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful enough that the convenience is king! It's a hair short even with the handle adjusted as much as is comfortable and it makes me crouch slightly to cut even (I'm 6'1"). I'm not the biggest fan of the bump feed head on mine (apparently the newer one). It gets clippings crammed behind the moving head and it doesn't bump well unless it gets swept out constantly. I just flip it over and spin it by hand. Plan on replacing with a husqy. Time for the good! Powerful enough to blow through any leafy green stuff on high, shallow/thin grass on low. I love the convenience of no gas or carb. I own 7 5ah and they're more than enough to either weedeat a larger yard or for me my whole yard between trailers. By the time I can burn 6 or 7 (a couple hours) up 2-4 are charged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trimmer and customer service The trimmer is amazing and makes yard work so much easier! The people at TSC were extremely helpful and knowledgeable! It was and always has been a great experience doing business with them. Great people!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected! I typically would not purchase a battery powered string trimmer due to the limited battery life but this DeWalt trimmer exceeded my expectations. I was able to trim a significant area that was highly overgrown but rocky ground so a mower wouldn't work. The battery power lasted between 30 and 40 minutes. My only complaint is that it didn't come with a strap so it was a workout!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Motor locked up I have a collection of Dewalt 20V tools and really pleased with them. Drill, driver, skill saw, reciprocating saw, vibrating tool, all work great. I needed a string trimmer for light weight work around the house, I didn't didn't hesitate to get a Dewalt. What a mistake!. The few hour the trimmer had on it were great, then the motor goes into low speed, then locks up. Needless to say this shakes my confidence in Dewalt. DO NOT BUY the string trimmer!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's pretty good, but the guard is way to small. Used it a couple times and it does exactly what you'd expect a trimmer to do. One thing it does exceptionally well at is blowing grass trimmings all over your legs. Why? because the guard is so fricken small. 6 1/4 inch wide guard, really Dewalt? Annoying. It's obvious whoever designed this doesn't do any kind of yard work themselves. How did that even get past testing? Come out with a larger guard Dewalt. The point where the two halves meet in the middle is a little sloppy as well. Each time you pick it up it feels like it's going to snap in half. Easy fix would be to have it slide in a little further and lock. If not for those two issues it would be a great product. End result, I'll be returning this trimmer for a different brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy trimmer Handy trimmer, easy to handle for my wife. We were disappointed the store did not have one to view out of the box. The employee was slightly annoyed at having to open the package so that we could see it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ill never go back to a gas trimmer. I will never go back to a gas trimmer again! This thing is too easy to use. I was against them for the longest time and when my brand new 4 stroke trimmer went bad halfway through the season. I only used unleaded gas in it and I had had enough. The power is definitely there. The battery life with of a 5AH is sufficient for about 30 mins of max run time. Great trimmer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Devastating: Weed Eating Machine: I was first introduced to the DeWalt 20 volt Max by member of our cemetery board, he praised this trimmer telling us how much he enjoyed it, he couldn’t believe the power and how long he could go on a battery charge. Talked to him a month later and he was still bragging about it. So I looked up some of the reviews on it. Next chance I got I bought one. It happened to be on sale that week also. So I used it for couple months, started noticing the line would not come out like it should. Took it back to Hastings store where I had purchased it, explained to the manager Marilyn the problem I had with it. She went to the shelf and picked me up a brand new one, exchanged it and have had no problems since. I told another friend and he bought one also, couldn’t believe he could go for 1/2 hour on high on one charge & how well it was balanced. All three of us are still very happy with our machines. Thank you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I love this little weed eater. It is lightweight and I can make it around my house on one battery. The battery will run down quick if you put it on heavier stuff but it only takes about 30 minutes for a full charge.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good trimmer with one major draw back I got this trimmer as a birthday present last year, and I was really excited. I’ve grown up with Dewalt tools and have had a few passed down to me which are still great products. I’ve wanted to leave this review for months now but wanted to be able to say that I’ve used it for a full season. My only issue with this, is that the trimmer will kick anything you’re trimming back at your legs. Grass, weeds, little stones (those are the worst) anything that’s in the path! I’ve never had this problem with any trimmer in the past, and I didn’t want to say this. I’ve tried changing hand positions, changing from right side to left, different angles (to the point where I’ve strained my back because it’s not a natural body position) and I just get coated from the shins down. It seems like it needs a bigger shield to block more of the debris. I don’t want to hate on this but this is the most annoying thing, and that it makes me dread when I have to use it. Dewalt, you do so many things right, but this issue makes me hate a product that you make, when most of the time I’m looking for reasons to buy more of your products....even when I don’t need them at the moment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way better than gas power models. Perfectly simple to operate. Well balanced does not make your arm ache. I am truly not a big battery/ electric fan, but this is a no brainer in comparison to gas models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good string trimmer. Love the battery system! Works well. I like the easy reloading process for the string. Glad it comes with a 5.0ah battery. Tried with my 2.0ah and it only lasted a few minutes. Having an extra battery will be helpful.

how to replace line I know where and what to buy HOW DO I INSTALL IT?

Asked by: rocojo65
Use only DEWALT replacement line: 1.Remove battery. 2.Cut a max of 25 feet (8 m) length of trimmer line. 3.Align spool housing eyelets with the arrow on the spool head. 4.Thread one end of the trimmer line through an eyelet. Guide the line through to the second eyelet and continue to pull the line through until there are equal lengths of string on each side of the spool housing as shown. 5.Secure the spool cap from moving with one hand. Using your other hand, wind the string onto the spool by rotating the spool head counter clockwise as shown in . Continue winding until 5 inches (127 mm) of string remain on each side of the spool housing .

Does this trimmer use the same battery as my battery powered drill? The drill is 20V max lithium ion. Drill model DCD771. Thank you.

Asked by: Kaos9843
The battery for your DCD771 is a DCB201 (1.5AH) battery. The battery for the DCST920P1 is a DCB205 (5.0AH) battery. The batteries are interchangeable. The 5.0 AH battery will provide longer run time. Each Amp Hour you increase, you will get 20-25% more run time. I would not recommend using a amp hour lower than 4.0 on your String Trimmer.
