Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy trimmer Handy trimmer, easy to handle for my wife. We were disappointed the store did not have one to view out of the box. The employee was slightly annoyed at having to open the package so that we could see it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ill never go back to a gas trimmer. I will never go back to a gas trimmer again! This thing is too easy to use. I was against them for the longest time and when my brand new 4 stroke trimmer went bad halfway through the season. I only used unleaded gas in it and I had had enough. The power is definitely there. The battery life with of a 5AH is sufficient for about 30 mins of max run time. Great trimmer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Devastating: Weed Eating Machine: I was first introduced to the DeWalt 20 volt Max by member of our cemetery board, he praised this trimmer telling us how much he enjoyed it, he couldn’t believe the power and how long he could go on a battery charge. Talked to him a month later and he was still bragging about it. So I looked up some of the reviews on it. Next chance I got I bought one. It happened to be on sale that week also. So I used it for couple months, started noticing the line would not come out like it should. Took it back to Hastings store where I had purchased it, explained to the manager Marilyn the problem I had with it. She went to the shelf and picked me up a brand new one, exchanged it and have had no problems since. I told another friend and he bought one also, couldn’t believe he could go for 1/2 hour on high on one charge & how well it was balanced. All three of us are still very happy with our machines. Thank you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I love this little weed eater. It is lightweight and I can make it around my house on one battery. The battery will run down quick if you put it on heavier stuff but it only takes about 30 minutes for a full charge.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good trimmer with one major draw back I got this trimmer as a birthday present last year, and I was really excited. I’ve grown up with Dewalt tools and have had a few passed down to me which are still great products. I’ve wanted to leave this review for months now but wanted to be able to say that I’ve used it for a full season. My only issue with this, is that the trimmer will kick anything you’re trimming back at your legs. Grass, weeds, little stones (those are the worst) anything that’s in the path! I’ve never had this problem with any trimmer in the past, and I didn’t want to say this. I’ve tried changing hand positions, changing from right side to left, different angles (to the point where I’ve strained my back because it’s not a natural body position) and I just get coated from the shins down. It seems like it needs a bigger shield to block more of the debris. I don’t want to hate on this but this is the most annoying thing, and that it makes me dread when I have to use it. Dewalt, you do so many things right, but this issue makes me hate a product that you make, when most of the time I’m looking for reasons to buy more of your products....even when I don’t need them at the moment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way better than gas power models. Perfectly simple to operate. Well balanced does not make your arm ache. I am truly not a big battery/ electric fan, but this is a no brainer in comparison to gas models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good string trimmer. Love the battery system! Works well. I like the easy reloading process for the string. Glad it comes with a 5.0ah battery. Tried with my 2.0ah and it only lasted a few minutes. Having an extra battery will be helpful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like that it is battery operated I think it is much better than gas driven ones, quieter, lighter and you don't have to mix gas. The directions for load the spool are not very user friendly in my opinion and more times than not I have to take it apart and re run it manually kinda defeats the purpose and convenience of have a spool if you have to take it off rerun it everytime. Battery last about half as long as it says it does. Which really isn't a big deal you should be able to weed trim your whole yard in 20 minutes anyway. but that one time that your run out of battery at the end and you have to wait 6-8 hours for it charge up is kinda irritating. Battery operated is definitely the way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around good trimmer I picked up this trimmer because my old (gas) trimmer quit for the last time. No more gas hassle with this. The power is pretty consistent almost until the end of the battery life. It does eat the battery fairly quickly, but I went for this trimmer because it shares batteries with my other dewalt tools.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive line trimmer Thought this would be good for the wife. It started out rough because of the cheap string. Changed string and I think I use it more than she does. Impressed on how long the battery last. Not heavy duty but gets the job done with grass and small weeds. Great addition to our tool list.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DeWALT Electric Weed Eater The DeWALT electrical weed eater has been massively helpful and convenient. Ive been able to use it on jobs that should be to tough for a weed eater with some amount of success. The string that comes with it however did get eaten up pretty fast, but that doesnt necessarily means its bad, because it was being used on thick weeds. Its very easy to store and with no gas or oil costs it saves money in the long run. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy operation, good enough power The Dewalt string trimmer is nice and lightweight, quiet and has decent power and run time. It's not suitable for heavy duty brush weedwhacking, but the convenience of no gas and its ability to quietly keep edges neat make this a great purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trimmer This Dewalt cordless trimmer is great. I have 3 1/2 acres and trying to use the electric trimmer was a hassle, used all my extention cords. I have used ot twice now, and it works great. Battery life is pretty good also. Can use my other 20 volt battery on it also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great gift My wife gave me this for my birthday. Not being mechanically minded, I was a bit concerned at first when I saw it. But I like the fact that it was simple to assemble, is light weight, and very easy to use. The battery life is much better than my old trimmer and is sufficient for my large yard so I don't have to wait until it charges again. I'm very pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Only Trimmer I'll Every Use Again Best trimmer I could have bought; lightweight and uses batteries instead of gasoline. I do change out batteries since I have a large yard, but still get done in 1/2 the time I used to, with a heavy gas trimmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome trimmer! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ive had a great experience with this trimmer! I would definitely recommend to get a second battery. I had about 30 mins of run time from one battery. No more messing with gas... I’ll take it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Overall I really like it. I’m 62 yo lady and can’t cold start our gas trimmer and the cord thing got really old. This one is a little heavy after prolonged use but I like that I can trim anywhere needed

how to replace line I know where and what to buy HOW DO I INSTALL IT?

Asked by: rocojo65
Use only DEWALT replacement line: 1.Remove battery. 2.Cut a max of 25 feet (8 m) length of trimmer line. 3.Align spool housing eyelets with the arrow on the spool head. 4.Thread one end of the trimmer line through an eyelet. Guide the line through to the second eyelet and continue to pull the line through until there are equal lengths of string on each side of the spool housing as shown. 5.Secure the spool cap from moving with one hand. Using your other hand, wind the string onto the spool by rotating the spool head counter clockwise as shown in . Continue winding until 5 inches (127 mm) of string remain on each side of the spool housing .

Can you put a different brand attachment on it like a chain saw attachment

Asked by: Joe boots

Does this trimmer use the same battery as my battery powered drill? The drill is 20V max lithium ion. Drill model DCD771. Thank you.

Asked by: Kaos9843
The battery for your DCD771 is a DCB201 (1.5AH) battery. The battery for the DCST920P1 is a DCB205 (5.0AH) battery. The batteries are interchangeable. The 5.0 AH battery will provide longer run time. Each Amp Hour you increase, you will get 20-25% more run time. I would not recommend using a amp hour lower than 4.0 on your String Trimmer.
