Rated 5 out of 5 by from this thing Unit is light has good power and the run-time seems reasonable to me. No longer carrying a heavy gas powered trimmer around. This trimmer actually helps me maintain a better looking lawn. Just walk into the shop and just plug a battery in...So Easy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the usual reliability of Dewalt tools. My garage if full of Dewalt tools so it was only natural that I got this trimmer. It may have lasted 2 months of light trimming before it overheated and died and I got a gas trimmer to keep up. Honestly I forgot about it until I cleaned my shed and realized I had forgotten to repair the trimmer. After quite a bit of research I found that it was redesigned because Dewalt found a defect that caused early failure. Im still within my 3 year warranty but will have to drive well over an hour to a service center and pay to have it converted to the updated and redesigned motor. Come on guys, really???

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Motor heats up too fast During my first time using this trimmer, the motor abruptly stopped after 30 minutes of use. Switched out batteries and it would run from 1-5 minutes before abruptly stopping again. I'd let it cool for a few minutes to get another 1-2 minutes of use. Motor heats up way too fast and I can't use it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The manual has a different string head I guess I will be getting my money back. The string trimmer head is completely different than the one in the manual. Not willing to play guessing games on how to load it. All of the youtube videos on the subject are the older type in the manual. Mine is a type 4. I am disappointed. The tool had potential.

Does this trimmer use the same battery as my battery powered drill? The drill is 20V max lithium ion. Drill model DCD771. Thank you.

Asked by: Kaos9843
The battery for your DCD771 is a DCB201 (1.5AH) battery. The battery for the DCST920P1 is a DCB205 (5.0AH) battery. The batteries are interchangeable. The 5.0 AH battery will provide longer run time. Each Amp Hour you increase, you will get 20-25% more run time. I would not recommend using a amp hour lower than 4.0 on your String Trimmer.
