Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT Owl Scareduck ! This owl was placed on the end of our pier. We normally would have 15 to 25 ducks sleep on our pier every night leaving quite a mess to wash off. Since we placed the owl on the end we have only seen two ducks venture on to the pier and they didn't leave a mess!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Head does not move Bought a stationary owl, a hawk and one of these for different spots around the house to discourage birds from trying to nest in roof. This sits on a deck in the Pacific Northwest in a house up on a hill. That means lots of breezes and outright heavy winds. The head on this one stays absolutely still while everything around it is blowing like crazy in the wind...not even a little “bobble”. Paid $10 more for this one and it does nothing more than the stationary one. I don’t understand the glowing reviews for this. Maybe we got a dud?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rotating head makes all the difference This owl looks really good. The painting is perfect the detail is really great. With the fact that it has a rotating head makes it more realistic. At this point even if it does not scare the squirrels away it looks really good in my yard.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money It does not scare away anything. I have squirrels that sit next to it and birds that land on its head. Useless, waste of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good bird watchdog This is the second bobble head owl I purchased. I moved to first to the back porch table as birds kept flying under furniture and dropping their stuff. I put the new one back in the garden on a tree stump. The head turns a bit in the wind. It appears to help keep the birds away. I am not sure if it is all the birds, but I have 90% fewer bird holes pecked in my tomatoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Looking Owl I was not sure when I bought this owl just how well it would work to keep the hawk away from my chickens. He had already killed about 15 of them. The owl looks authentic and his head swivels 360 degrees in a soft or hard breeze which makes it look real to a hawk. It has been about two weeks now and I have not seen the Red Tail hawk since and the chickens have been safe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great Bought this because we had a pair of mallard ducks landing in our swimming pool. Seemed to work for a couple of days, but then I spotted the male duck in the water not 10 feet from where the owl was set. Ended up going with netting to keep the ducks away while we’re on a trip. However, we did notice an immediate decrease of other birds in our yard, so the owl does work. Very well built, and the head rotation works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from He really worked for us We live next to the bird sanctuary near 3M in Austin, Texas. We had a really early, really loud, songbird wake us at the crack of dawn by perching on one of our chimneys just before the sun came up. He had been doing it for a couple of years. I could have easily stopped him with my pellet gun yet didn't want to kill him. I tried squirting him with the hose, yelling and clapping my hands, & etc. We have two chimneys close together and I put "Mr. Owl" on one of them (after filling him partway full of pea gravel -so he would stay put) and a short section of rope in case the wind toppled him). It has been over four weeks and the song bird has stayed in our area - just not on the top of our chimney. We still hear him off and on during the day and he doesn't get close to "Mr. Owl." The songbird may figure out that he isn't alive yet he with his head moving has given us weeks of blissful sleep. I'd give "Mr. Owl" twenty stars if I could. The songbird owes his life to the owl so I believe he would give him top marks too if he only knew.

I want to use @ my pool for birds, what's the best way to mount or can I just fill with water or dirt, I don't want wind to blow over the owl and dump dirt in pool....lol

Asked by: Vic760
It can either be mounted to a pole or weighed down. We would suggest if weighing it down to still tie it down as well.

Is this owl mountable on a pole or should it be weighted down? Will it scare away smaller song birds?

Sparrows are in chicken run, need to keep them out. Will this scare my chickens, too?

Asked by: Jaybird3827
This should not scare your chickens, but it should work on the sparrows.

I saw that this product does not scare off Hawks. If this product does not scare off Hawks, what will scare off Hawks?

Asked by: Susan2204
You are correct, decoy statues are not effective for scaring hawks. The best repellent are loud noises, sprinklers, and removing feed or prey which may attract them. If you are raising chickens you may consider enclosing their habitat with chicken wire.
