Cub Cadet SS 270 Straight Shaft Gas String Trimmer is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid at all costs! Absolute piece of garbage. The starting process is ridiculous and has to be repeated constantly. Took 30+ pulls to get it started this morning. Then an extra 50+ following that every time it dies. It bogs down at full throttle. It doesn’t cut the weeds/grass, at best it folds it over. Most likely the cheapest engine made with the cheapest parts. I bought this product to use at second home. At the other home I have a stihl, that can sit unused for 6 months and fire up without issue. Shouldn’t of cheaped out this time. Will be junking it and getting another Stihl.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I wish I had read the reviews first! I bought this last summer. It basically did what I needed. Fired it up this season and it's a piece of junk. Like so many other reviews, it will only run with the choke almost completely set. Even then, it only runs at full throttle with weak power and struggles to spin the head. Won't idle, always stalls. I run Premium pump gas. If it needs something special, it should be printed right on the gas tank. The other thing that drives me crazy is cutting tall weeds that get wrapped around the spindle...every time! Also needs a bump-head. Always changing the single piece of string. Throw away more than you use. Cub Cadet used to represent high quality. This is junk. Wasted my money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low use I purchased this weed eater 3 summers ago and have only used maybe a couple dozen times. The second summer I began having trouble with the trimmer. I had to run it in 1/2 choke in order to operate it no matter how long I used it. If you shut it off you may as well forget starting it again until the next day. This year it will barely start at all and when it does it has to be in full choke to run and won't rev up. I can switch it to 1/2 choke and feather the throttle after a few minutes it dies. All filters are clean and I put a new plug in. Very disappointed. I didn't think I would have any trouble out of a cub cadet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from difficult to start i bought this trimmer 6/2017 - used it through the fall - I find this trimmer to be much more difficult to start than any other equipment I have with 2-cycle engines. Also, only after one season, this trimmer will not rev high enough to turn the cutting head fast enough to trim. I have replaced the plug, cleaned the air filter and am using new fuel. However, I purchased a Cub Cadet 46" riding mower the same day and have been thoroughly impressed with it.

I read where a shoulder strap came with the unit. Mine did not have one. This would be very helpful as it is a little heavy for me. Should there have been a shoulder strap with my purchase? If not, where could I get one?

Asked by: dka50
Hello dka50. The Cub Cadet SS 270 Straight Shaft Gas String Trimmer is not sold with the shoulder strap included. They are sold seperately. The universal shoulder strap is part number UTS-1. Thank you for your question.

I have a cub cadet ss270 straight shaft trimmer that uses a single sting. I was wanting to know if it could be changed to a bump and go head and what do I have to do to change it. Thank You

Asked by: rick 53
Hey Rick53, There are a number of universal bump-head trimmer options you could go with. If you are thinking about upgrading your trimmer head, we would recommend an Aero Flex head. It's not a bump-head but it's much easier and no winding or replacing line. It uses four flexible blades, so they last long unless you are using it against concrete or stone. It's available on TSC.com, SKU # 108296199. Thanks!
