Rated 4 out of 5 by from good for quick fix works good for a low budget cylinder little slop in the pins but works smooth and dependable

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap made I put them as leveling cylinders on a farmhand loader on an old Farmall. Both ends snapped when I tipped forward. Bent one shaft. Very weak for a 2500 to 3500 psi rating

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient location The product is ok quality, service was good with purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent cylinder for the money Nearly as good as the Chief cylinder I had to replace. With a 2.5 bore, it takes more oil to fill that bore so it does run a little slower than the 2 inch bore. Wished it had a 1 1/4 rod or even a 1 1/2 inch rod in this size bore, so it makes the rod stronger and run faster with less oil needed to move the cylinder.

Why are there 2 ports on one end .which port is inlet & outlet

Asked by: For crying out load
The two ports on the base end allow for alternate plumbing. Only one is used at a time on that end.

Is there a modification needed to switch from double action to single action and visa versa?

Asked by: TSCcustomer2
It isn’t recommended to use these cylinders in a single-acting application, but they could use a brass breather vent. It could possibly leak. This is a quick fix, but we would suggest a custom cylinder for better performance.

I have one hydraulic hose on the bottom and one hose on the top. It will extend but not retract. It retracted extememly slowly when I let oil out the other port.

Asked by: Robert0109
Since he said he has hoses at top and bottom, I assume he is using the cylinder dbbl acting. In which case I would not be inclined to look at the cylinder as an issue but more at something within his system like the control valve. If the pump is pumping oil and there are no obstructions within the lines or other components, the cylinder will move. I would like to know more about his application, how it is mounted and how is being used. Also, Is this a new set up or a replacement cylinder in an existing system? If he only removed the extend hose on the base end and the retract hose is still connected, then yes, the cylinder will retract extremely slowly, half of it is still connected to an enclosed system. It is retracting only with a removed hose because now there is differential pressure within the cylinder. If he loosened the rod end port as well, I’m betting it would fall much faster. All of that to say, I suspect there is something else going on and not a faulty cylinder. In fact, his statement a/b letting the oil out of the other port and the cylinder retracting extremely slow tells me the cylinder is acting as it should with good seals and no obstructions.
