Reviews

CountyLine Shallow Well Cast Iron Jet Pump, 1 HP is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 160.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pump; here's a couple pointers Seems to be a great shallow well pump and is working well on a 15 amp breaker. Two things though-1, the pump is set up for a 30-50 lb pressure. I wanted 40-60. The instructions were a little vague on changing to a 40/60. I eventually went back and bought a 40-60 pressure control. The 40/60 works perfect and I don't have play with it. 2. I think the threads on the feed and intake might be a little coarse. Teflon tape did not complete the seal so I used pipe thread compound TFE paste and really cranked on it to get a complete seal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good I just purchased the pump a week or so back, and it seems to be operating just fine. These shallow well pumps should operate for years, maybe a decade or more, so it'll be difficult to rate this particular pump--unless it quits working within months or a year or so. The pump I replaced was at least 8 years old; was here when I moved in back in mid-2012. What I can say is that the folks at TSC were--as always--very helpful. This is one reason I purchase at TSC regularly, usually 4-6 times a month. Also, TSC always has lots of clearance items for sale, which helps families like mine who live on a budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost effective Quality construction for a price half of what a well company would charge !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value This is a cast iron shell that is ideal for water conditions. I looked at other manufacturers and the cost /value were much below the quality of this pump. I DID have an issue, the fan housing is too close to the fan that inhibits it running. I found this out after I returned one and had same issue (motor humming) when I installed again. I loosened the fan housing and it works GREAT. I am running at 50psi and shuts off at 60PSI as designed. This is a replacement of an identical unit that failed when I failed to adjust pressure sensor and it ran until the motor seized.

Questions & Answers

Can I reduce the suction to 3/4 of a inch and the outlet size to 3/4 to use as a booster pump for rural water?

Asked by: Billy jack1968
No, this is not recommended the pump is asking for a 1-1/4” pipe full of water and is only getting ¾” of water. The pump is going to destroy it self.

How many amps does the 1 hp motor need?

Asked by: Water baron
On 115 volts, the pump’s nameplate amps are 12. A 20-amp breaker is recommended for 115 volts. On 230 volts, the pump’s nameplate amps are 6. A 15-amp breaker is recommended in that case.

Can I run the pump off of a generator?  If so,  what size generator would be required?  Any complications associated with such a setup?

Asked by: Browndog4

Will this pump pull water from a stream 100 linear feet and 5 feet below pressure tank ?

Asked by: Rob418
The stream must be 4’ to 5’ deep of water, so that the foot valve is under that much water. The tank has to be within 5’ or less to the pressure switch. With the 1-1/4” inlet pipe at a 5’ rise from the top of the water in the stream, the pump will do about 16gpm. If they use a 2” inlet pipe, the pump will do about 20gpm.
