Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality axle, fair price, in stock Quality construction, built solidly. Bearings were adjusted properly "out of the box", only thing is I wish the threads on the studs hadn't been painted but that's not the end of the world, not a big enough deal to lose a star over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Axle 35oo easy install Easy install .great fit , buy all new hardware makes it easier to install in less than an hour
Date published: 2019-05-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect bolt in Bought this about a month ago now. Took just under 2 hours to install and much of that was getting old wheels off some frozen lugs. This was one of the most straight forward replacements you could ask for. If you want a 2 hour or less install I suggest you use a cutting wheel on a grinder to cut off your existing U-bolts and buy replacement U-bolts to put back in. You will have to take one hub off to get the axle through the leaf springs and then re-assemble, but that's not bad at all.

I have a 18ft car trailer , its 82in wide in between the fenders will this axel work on my trailer?

Asked by: jwhite
We have 4 trailers that are specifically made for Car Haulers and each one of these are tandem, with 1 brake and 1 idler axle. The idler axle on these trailers are 3K9380. These are 93" hub face to hub face and 80" spring to spring. We use these dimensions for the axle's rather than track length. The best way to be sure is to actually measure the axle you have on your trailer to see if they match these dimensions.

Sku# 175423 which is a 3K8874 meaning 88 is hub face to hub face and 74 is spring seat spacing Sku#1075105 which is a 3K8470 meaning 84 is hub face to hub face and 70 is spring seat spacing. I recently purchased this axle, what is the service interval for the bearings, is the a retorque for the axle nut after a certain time period?

Asked by: Aowen7a
It is a Dexter Axle: Along with bearing adjustment, proper lubrication is essential to the proper function and reliability of your trailer axle. Bearings should be lubricated every 12 months or 12,000 miles. Dexter manual is on their website: https://www.dexteraxle.com/resources/manuals/-in-tags/tags/Light-Duty **For standard grease or oil axles using cotter pin: 1. After placing the hub, bearings, washers, and spindle nut back on the. axle spindle in reverse order as detailed in the previous section on hub. removal, rotate the hub assembly slowly while tightening the spindle nut to approximately 50 Ft. Lbs. (12" wrench or pliers with full hand force.) 2. Then loosen the spindle nut to remove the torque. Do not rotate the hub. 3. Finger tighten the spindle nut until just snug. 4. Back the spindle nut out slightly until the first castellation lines up with the cotter key hole and insert the cotter pin. 5. Bend over the cotter pin legs to secure the nut. 6. Nut should be free to move with only restraint being the cotter pin.
