My B&S engine specifies 491055s, can I use a 496018s ?

Asked by: San Antonio Scott
The part number 491055s is a valid part number and does not supersede to 496018s we would recommend the part number it states to use on your illustrated parts list. As the other has not been tested with your engine If that is what your engine does specify to use.

can't get the engine to tune over.  Tried changing gas, spark plug, carb, etc.  Nada

At this point I would try to diagnose the issue further. Is the problem specifically caused by the ignition or spark? This can be tested with an in-line spark tester, if you are getting spark, then there is no issue with that. I would move onto either air or fuel intake. So after pulling your recoil multiple times, do you smell gasoline on your spark plug? If so, then you should have no problems with the carburetor. After doing some diagnosis, you can reference your symptoms with a local service center, you can find one in your area by clicking here: http://bit.ly/14yWuSi
