Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wood finish! Mixed 50/50 with turpentine, this makes a great wood finish for such things as tool handles, gun stocks, etc. It really brings out the wood grain and preserves the wood much better than varnish or boiled linseed oil will.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! I was having trouble with my mare's hooves. They were very soft and flakey, after only one use of pine tar, they hardened right up! Its quite messy and sticky so make sure you use it while in a stall or wash bay

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No horses but great for making soap! My company makes beard products and this pine tar is perfect. Regular pine tar is too thick and sticky. This stuff is light and mixes well with the oils we use for our beard soap.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sticky How do I make this sticky? I bought it for baseball because it was pine tar. Anyone please help

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baseball This may seem peculiar, but I love this product! Except, not for horses. I cannot speak to it's equine uses, but we use it exclusively for increasing grip on wooden bats. There are baseball specific products that call themselves, "pine tar" but are far inferior to the real thing.

Is this pine tar closed kiln or open kiln produced?

Asked by: Paulajane
The manufacturer did not release that information to our supplier. That being said, most people who ask the same question do so with the intention to make soap or other products to be used on humans. This product is strictly for equine use only.

Can this be used to make pine tar salve? For human use? Would this be the same as cooking the pine tar out of fat wood?

Is this creosote free? Since I'll be handling it, I'd prefer to know if it contains carcinogenic materials. Closed kiln pine tar is usually creosote free.

Asked by: Mickey9
We cannot guarantee that our Pine Tar is creosote free because creosote is an inherent part of the process of making pine tar. This pine tar is veterinary grade and is made to be used on horse’s hooves.
