Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ball reg mouth plastic caps This is exactly what I ordered! I like to use these tops for my jellies and jams after they have been opened for use. Like this product very much and will order again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What's the point if they leak?? I don't understand why they can't/don't/won't make a lid that seals properly! It doesn't have to form a seal as tight as a 2 part canning lid but it would be nice if my soup didn't leak all over my bag on the way to work. At first I though I got a bad batch but now I realize they're not even supposed to seal securely!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't get them I can see in the picture that this is the kind I like best, but the link to Walmart didn't connect me with the product (plastic canning jar lids).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like them I got 4 of the large and 4 small years ago. Really like them when I put a jar of pickles in the ice box, all I have to do is put the little white lid on with a pretty little sticker on it of what it is and good to go. I like the one caps for the ice box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is new Ball Plastic Cap right out of the box This is new Ball Plastic Cap right out of the box. Just saying. I only use these for dry or refrigerator items because they leak. These are labeled "cap" not "lid". If you don't want it to leak, you have to use a lid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these lids! They are hard to find in stores, but well worth the search!! We use our jars with these lids to 'shake up' eggs for scrambling, flour & water for gravy, -- mixing any ingredients that need a good shaking! Even when opening a canned product - rather then storing with the lid & band- i just use one of these instead. Then just wash & reuse or store in the fridge for later. In my sewing room, I have some jars, no longer suitable for canning- that I use for buttons, ribbons, bobbins and even a first aid kit! They always come in so handy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Secret to plastic lids sealing I have used these lids for years. Yes, they leak if the jar and lids are different temperature since glass and plastic expand and contract at different rates. If you store liquids, then twist tight and refrigerate. When everything is cold, they will not leak if you are careful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK for dry but doesn't seal for liquids The lids look nice but don't seal properly against the rim of the jar. The need to purchase additional silicone rings to ensure a seal makes the total package pretty pricey. Just had hot pepper sauce leak all over someone's hands this last weekend when the picked up the jar to look at the contents. Disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these Lids I bought a box of these lids the first time I saw them. I use them for any jar I open and use them instead of the metal bands. No rust or corrosion ever. I am purchasing more, because I use jars for storing all kinds of things.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They do not seal!!! Beware!!! These lids do not seal properly. When trying to shake the contents the sprays all over the place. I tried with multilple lids and the same happened with every lid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I make homemade salad dressing and use the 8 ounce flat jars. The lids are so nice for these to use on the table to serve. Great storage too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lids do not form a seal These lids to not form a seal, they are neither air nor water tight and dry out or leak the contents of the jar.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from leaks easily I bought this last week. I was so happy because I make my own yogurt and keep them in Ball Jars. I purchased the wide mouth plastic tops because it is too expensive to use the metal lids for my purpose. I took them out of the box and put them on the jars in which I had placed water and they leaked. Not just a little, but a lot. I was hoping that this could be resolved by some sort of seal or a plastic lid with rubber, but I don't see this anywhere. I have had to use the flat portion of the metal lid to keep from leaking. I looked at the box and saw pictures of jars with liquid which is misleading since these leak. I even tightened them so tight they were difficult to get off. They could be useful if there was a seal of some sort. They could store dry goods.I will not be making this mistake again until Ball makes a seal to go with this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very handy for "leftovers" and culturing I have been using these plastic lids for about 3 years. They are helpful when I open a quart jar I have previously pressure canned (for example, canned chicken or beef), but I am only using half of the contents for today's meal, and want to keep the remainder for another meal later in the week. Other reviewers have mentioned that the lid does not have an airtight seal, which is correct, so please keep any liquids upright to avoid leaks. I do want to mention because the lids are not airtight, they are perfect when I culture my dairy kefir/whey pickles and kombucha tea/vinegar; the looseness prevents gaseous pressure build-up and explosion (what a mess!). For my purposes I would give this product 5-stars (because I culture my own probiotics), but I can see why most other people would give it 4-stars (most people do not make their own probiotics at home) because of the leakage concern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for making infused water I use the wide mouth lids on a half-gallon jar to make infused water. I slice one lemon, one orange and one lime, place in the jar, add water to fill the jar then put the lid on and put the jar in the fridge for 4 hours. I then remove the fruit and store the infused water in the jar in the fridge. I can make a larger batch of water than I could if I used the fancy infuser thingy. I also use them on smaller jars to store things in the fridge. I'm starting to use more glass than plastic containers for food storage and these are perfect for use in the fridge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless Thought they were a great idea but don't lay them down, they leak all over. this also mean that they are not air tight. Good idea but You guys dropped the "Ball" on this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What's It For? I thought these one piece lids would be great, but I'm rather disappointed after a few years of using them. They're not air tight, so if you store liquids in them, be sure to keep your jars upright at all times! I tried to use the plastic lid on a jar to take soup to work, and the jar tipped on the way to work and soup leaked out. Also, since these lids are not air tight, pantry moths invaded the jars I had in my pantry. I had to throw out quinoa, coconut, and several other jars with plastic lids. I'm pretty bummed about these...they'd be great for storing non-food items, but for food items what's the point?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from REGULAR MOUTH PLASTIC STORAGE CAPS I had bought these in hopes of REPLACING my metal lids & rings... *buzzer sound* Bad idea....but my fault for not researching/reading the directions farther. I did not realize these were made for staorage & not normal canning. Again, my fault NOT the company's fault. As for storage, these caps are 2nd to none! let me emphasize storage...as in something that is not a liquid that will be shaken wile inside the jar with this type of cap. no matter how tight you try to get these lids, if there is a liquid inside the jar, and you should shake it, the cap will leak liquid....not a huge amount but enough to make a nasty mess. For storing onions, cut veggies, powders of ANY kind....as long as it's not a liquid, these make for great storage. Just make me angry that I was in such a hurry to "fix" a problem, that I created a bigger one instead. Lastly, my fault not the company's fault. I should have known better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than metal lids for storage I use Ball jars to store things, both in and out of the refrigerator, and I love these lids! They look nice and don't rust. I have a set of both sizes. I store shredded cheese, homemade salad dressing, chopped onion, and so on in the fridge and things like cracker crumbs and brown and powdered sugar in the cupboards. My only complaint is that I can't find them in stores around here! I bought what I have from Walmart but they don't have them any more.
