Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work. I bought this and installed it in my chicken drinker. Water froze right up the next morning. Do not waste your time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nut slips off, can't tighten to keep from leaking The plastic nut does not hold and jumps off when you tighten. Do no buy. The nut will fail, the tank will leak. Only 3/4" of one thread is used on the nut and the end is open, so that when you tighten it jumps off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible, avoid I bought a bunch of these, good heaters, but the plastic backing screw plate snapped on most of them on Rubbermaid tanks. Cheap plastic does not take freeze thaw well.

Should the heater turn off if the trough runs out of water

Asked by: Tort
The heater does not turn off if there is no water. It will continue to cycle until water is re added.
