Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for fish pond Bought it for a back yard koi pond of about 200 gallons. Keeps pond completely ice free thus allowing for my detached pond filter to work all winter without icing up. I to got the one that sunk to the bottom, crea colored protective finish 1500 watts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Merry Christmas It did not work so I returned it and purchased a different type that sits at the bottom of the tank and so far it works just fine. I have had three of these type of tank heaters in the past and they always worked for years. This time I just got one that had a problem. Chances are anyone else could expect there's to last many years. It is a good product and if they had another at the time I would have purchased another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ice water Animal water is solid ice. Not a very good product.

Asked by: jamanfed
The unit is supposed to turn on at 42 degrees Fahrenheit and turn off at 73 degrees Fahrenheit, therefore there may be an issue with that unit.

will the coil on the heater glow red if not submerged into the water for any length of time. I was told I was seeing things. It was 5am in the morning and about 15 degrees

Asked by: huntnky
The unit has to be totally submerged in water in order for it not to glow red. Per the user manual: "The heating element MUST be completely submerged while in use to prevent risk of fire hazard". The product will continue to turn on and heat until the temperature range is met. If any of the element is sticking out of the water, it will continue to heat.
