Item Information

The American FarmWorks 60 Mile 2 Joule Fence Charger is used to control all livestock and exclude predators in locations that have access to AC power. Low impedance electric fence chargers have low internal resistance; which allows for increased joules on the fence line. This means that energy can push passed weeds or vegetation to keep the fence hot. This charger powers a range of up to 60 miles of fence and works in heavy weed conditions.

The American FarmWorks 60 Mile AC Low Impedance Fence Charger can be used with all wire types including high tensile, poly wire, poly rope, and poly tape. This charger is UL listed.

  • Energizes 60 miles of fence wire under optimal conditions
  • For use in heavy vegetation conditions
  • "Fence OK" indicator light shows when charger is activated
  • AC power, 2.2 joule output, low impedance
  • Operates American FarmWorks fencing, including high tensile steel or aluminum, poly wire, poly rope, and poly tape

Rated 2 out of 5 by from They don't build them like they used to This charger works but the indicator light is not visible. I returned it and paid the difference for the 120 mi and it's a little better. My previous charger that recently gave me some problems worked since 1972. After talking to some old school experienced ranchers, they told me I'll never find one like my old one due to new manufacturer requirements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time user Bought this to help keep my dogs in their pen area and to keep my neighbors pigs out of my front yard and garden before I have a freezer full of ham and bacon. At 50 yards from the box, it is pushing 10,000 volts. It claims it will energize up to 60 miles of wire, I put up less then a 1/4 mile, so the voltage is still there. It took 2 tries for the dogs to learn to stay off and respect the wire, even the chickens have learned to stay off the wire. You will have a voltage drop every time you put in a jump wire when you go from one area to another. Easy to install instructions.

Will this work with goats? I see competitor 50 mile chargers at 2.0 joules is this an actual 2.2 joule charger with comparable strength? Also, are these made by zareba? Thanks

Asked by: s_hagy022
This charger can be used to safely contain bulls, exotics, goats, horses, pigs, predators and sheep. It provides a no load output of 11,800 volts (+/-20%). We recommend maintaining a minimum of 4,000-5,000 volts on the fence line for goats. Woodstream Corp manufactures several brands, including American FarmWorks™ and Zareba®. Feel free to call our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-592-7322 with additional questions.

Box is making buzz sound only putting out 1000 volts

Asked by: Danny 176
We recommend testing the energizer with a fence tester across the terminals with both the ground and hot wires removed from the terminals. The voltage should read 11,800 (+/- 20%). We would like to learn more about this experience and offer additional troubleshooting. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-592-7322 for further help.

How many ground rods should be used.

Asked by: Chuck1987
We recommend using at least three 6' ground rods placed at least 10' apart. If the soil is particularly dry and rocky, we recommend adding more ground rods.

How many amps does this unit pull?

Asked by: CO970
All of our energizers have an amp draw that is less than 1.0.

Does this charger have fuse somewhere that can be replaced? I'm getting the clicking sound but no light blink or juice out put.

Asked by: Rooster 007
This energizer has a fuseless design. We recommend removing the fence and grounding wires from the unit and testing across the terminals with a fence tester. As long as your getting the proper voltage (11,800), the energizer is working correctly.
