Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but heavy to deal with This unit works pretty well, but the tongue weight is way too heavy given that the motor and mulching unit are mounted on the tongue. As a minimum, an optional trailer swivel jack should be available; better would be a wagon-type design that has swivelling front wheels and just a tow bar to connect to the trailer hitch. An optional electric start motor like used on snow blowers would be welcome, especially for seniors like me! A better securing system for the 6" hose would also be helpful, as it is difficult to keep the hoses connected with the 6 1/2" clamps, even when tightened with a socket and ratchet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Just got all the parts and put it together, it sucks well but throws more dust around my yard than anything. Bought the hand attachment to clean out the flowerbeds all it did was make a bigger mess I’ve got dust and dirt all over my walkway now I have more work I’ll be returning it today and won’t be buying another agrifab product. It’s also hard to dump didn’t come with a handle to lift up with. Also very cheap construction the engine worked great but that’s about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I bought it! This unit works very well. I used a Billy Goat vacuum last year and the leaves on my two acres were too much for it and me. I am 75 years old and wanted something requiring less labor and that would last. It worked well but I emptied the bags over 50 times and still didn’t finish. I have already used this new machine to clean up the leftovers from last year and it does a great job. Definitely reduced my labor. I would suggest they make improvements in how the hoses attach. It is difficult to prevent the hoses from slipping off during turns. It would also be nice if they would engineer the attachment to the mower so it is easier to change between the mower and the vacuum. I have seen it done with other manufacturers so I know it is possible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No more raking This mow and vac is powerful and holds a lot of leaves.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problems can be solved Your first task in the instructions is to adapt the intake boot to the output of your mower. Several templates are provided. I own a 48" Snapper lawn tractor, so there was no template for me. I managed to make it connect, but still faced two problems that other reviewers have noted: constant clogging in the tube, and the hose continually coming off. It too some fiddling, but finally my solution was this: 1) buy the Snapper chute adapter, which has a 7" output; 2) use two pieces of stove pipe to make an adapter from 7" to the 6" house, also providing a quick disconnect; 3) put a bolt through each of the connections to hold the hose in place. With all this, it's now working great, even with grass that was near two feet long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I’be had one over 10years, got 2 acre of grass & trees, it has The Tecumseh 8hp engine starting to getting wore out, the change I made was have a guy weld about 12” channel up right on the tongue and weld a lift on it with a caster on it. Do not have to lift any more and roll around without lifting unit that was always the hardest thing to do. First time this year after de-thatching my yard used to pick up thatch, useally on Did leaves in the fall chipper/vac twigs/leaves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I recently purchased a house with 2 acres. I did a lot of research and found this unit to be the best value for the price. It lives up to expectations! Sucks up everything leaving a nice clean line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great tool -- in the right hands Have had my Chip-N-Vac for 2 years -- it has some quirks, but overall has been a great investment. It does take a bit of work to set up for your mower -- but the templates provided take some of the guesswork out of making the initial cuts to fit your brand of mower. The hose extension is a must for a zero-turn mower, but it then drags and gets caught on the back of the mower. I had to add a bar/brace that sticks off the side of the back of my zero-turn to strap the hose to -- in order to keep the hose from dragging the ground. I'll echo the sentiment of a lot of the reviews on here -- the Chip-N-Vac needs some type of electric start. I appreciate the use of the Briggs and Stratton engine, but perhaps looking at a cheaper alternative might allow for an electric start while keeping the unit at the same price point. Even Briggs and Stratton make a 208cc engine with electric start -- all of the snowblowers use them. Pull starting the Chip-N-Vac is nearly impossible after it has sat up for a week or two.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect I love it and would give it a 5 if the tongue weight wasn't so much. Bending low to lift it is no way to go, but I made and extension to the handle. Would be a nice touch to have the guard over the exhaust painted red. And there was no template for it to fit my 48" exmark deck. I made an adapter. Other that that I love the way way it licks everything up and mulches it as fine as it does. Very pleased with its performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product Review Just beginning to get to use the CV. It is definitely a mulching chipping machine. I had to make a modification to the tongue with a trailer dolly. Was too heavy to move in my barn. Also, the pull start is very hard because of the centrifugal weight of the chipper mechanism. I will re-submit a newer review when I am able to after using it to clean up winter leaves and tree limbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Entry Mower Vac The chute on this needs to be much heavier. It does plug quite a bit. Overall it works great and is a great way to pick up leaves. Have not used it for grass clippings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful product For years I have used my Husqvarna 3 bag mower. It was time consuming, dirty and had to be emptied constantly. Then I found Agrifab. This unit not only saved the day but, also saved my back. Plus its a whole lot cleaner..When getting up in years as I am, it's wiser to "work smarter not harder"... I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a leaf/grass vacuum system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome power When I first used this machine the hose kept coming off. Had to go out and purchase separate Bridge clamps to hold the 6in hose onto the unit. That's the only thing bad I could say about this machine. Has power for days. Would recommend to anyone

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works, but needs modifications It does a great job but it needs some modifications. The hide from the mower to the machine ripped off. Need to be made out of more flexible material. The clamps to hold that tube on are useless. Need a better design. The string to hold the catcher cover down does a horrible job. I replaced with three squeeze clamps. Other than that it works great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work saver! I have a huge cottonwood tree that takes weeks to drop it’s leaves. It had become an overwhelming problem as I got older! Now all I have to do is run my riding lawnmower around the yard a couple of times a week and dump the shredded leaves in my garden! Actual fun to use! Get the extension vacuum attachment and the chipper option and you will not regret the extra cost! Easy to assemble, but my vintage mower required some extra adapting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as intended. The unit works as intended. The only complaint I have is the rear of the cover does not stay closed against the trailer tub with the bungee cord they use in the mesh. It would be much better with a latch or strap of some sort. Something AgriFab could think about as an update.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much Better Than Expected Purchased yesterday, mid-December, in western Oregon. The leaves are drenched and packed, but I figured I'd give it a try and used it this afternoon. Frankly, I didn't expect this leaf vacuum to work as well as it did, and, frankly, it worked wonderfully, even with my mower deck on the highest setting. In addition to vacuuming up wet, packed leaves, it dumps well. Some online reviews of leaf vacuums complain of the dumping processes. No problems with this one. Pull the top back, tilt the bed, easily rake or shovel out the leaves. Mine were finely cut and packed, so I had to shovel out the half that remained (though, like any dump bed, I could've just driven away from the pile letting the leaves spill out the back). Anyway: easy. I didn't use the deck adapter. Instead, I spent eight dollars on an ADS (corrugated pipe) "snap" adapter, which easily connected the tube to my current bagger chute, making my assembly time for the whole thing about 90 minutes. While vacuuming, the ADS reducer worked like magic. While not vacuuming, it pulled off once, so I secured it to my bagger chute with two metal roofing screws. Two negative comments: 1) The wheel "bearings" won't last long. The manual says to grease them, but there are no zerks. I have zerks and can tap for them, but I didn't bother. For one thing, there is an opposing hole in the wheel, so the grease will squirt out. For another, the nylon bearings are stupidly cheap. Witness: they aren't covered by the warranty. I'll spring for a (relatively) decent pair of wheels and tires. 2) This thing is loud. LOUD!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Okay Quality control is lacking had missing hardware and paint was damaged from shipping container. Works good when it ran after 6 hours briggs engine leaked lots of oil. Customer service was not much help five weeks and the briggs dealer has not looked at the problem yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy one sitting outside the store!!! The paperwork was left in the hopper that was full of rainwater and was the consistency of a spitball. The motor would not start and had water and muddy residue in the carburetor plus the flywheel was cover in rust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value and a real work horse! This is our second Agbrifab leaf sucker and the 1st one lasted about 18 years. We clean over an acre of property with it and the dump feature makes life easier as well. Starts on the first pull every time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge time saver & great value We are in our second home within a neighborhood that has TONS of well established trees - all great to have until fall comes around. The topic of lawn maintenance and the amount of work (& money the year I paid a crew to clean-up) spent in maintaining property was discussed before we made the decision to buy a larger home and property within the same neighborhood. I've looked at lawn / leaf vacs over the years and, dreading the start of the first weekend cleanup, was set that this year would be the year. For several months leading up to my purchase of this unit, I researched every variety and manufacturer of towable leaf / lawn vacs . This included hard top & soft folding, online & in-store, even new & used. The online sellers offering 1-year money-back guarantees were all tempting, even at the higher price point, and I'm sure they are worthy machines to offer that type of guarantee. None of these machines are really low-cost, but I considered it an investment - both in durable equipment and my time. After much consideration I settled on the Agri-Fab soft top mode. Whereas the hard-side version was readily available in my city, the soft-top version was only available at Tractor Supply about 45 minutes from my home. I purchased online and called the store to ensure it was really in stock, which it was. They asked if I wanted the unit assembled for free, which I gladly accepted. I picked it up, mostly assembled, with some minor assembly required for the soft-top and to customize the deck boot. I have a Husqvarna rider with a 42" fabricated deck. I didn't inspect the deck outlet thoroughly and had some concern initially about fitting the boot to what amounts to a flat and rounded discharge opening. I ended up cutting the boot opening to a width not as wide as the deck discharge opening, as the opening follows a flat edge on the deck as well as into the curve of the deck. I was concerned that by cutting the boot opening as wide as the discharge and into the curve that I would lose more of an already somewhat imperfect connection (and thus suction). These concerns were really unfounded as the vac has an incredible amount of suction. I was able to improvise a mounting method using the included hardware. I'm sure some decks are simpler and that my particular deck is more complicated than others, but expect to require some ingenuity and improvising to attach the plastic boot to the mower deck. Not criticism to Agri-Fab's design as this is process required for most of the other brands as most all provide a generic boot. Take your time on this part in planning, marking, cutting, and mounting. I used a white crayon to mark, a drill to create holes at corners, and a jigsaw to cut the straight lines between holes. I'm glad the cart was assembled as planning and mounting to boot took several hours as did final assembly and setup (soft top installation, hose, readying the engine). Unit started right up (unit is loud, primarily from resonance off the vac, so be sure to wear hearing protection) and off I went. Before even starting the mower deck the suction the boot creates within the deck space has the unit wanting to suck up anything you pass over - the suction is really incredible - and my concern on not having a good tight fit between the boot and deck was unwarranted. After assembly it was late afternoon but I ran a couple loads and was already convinced I had my money's worth. One pass collects most if not all of a layer of leafs and it's easy enough to manage through a big pile blown from landscaping with different passes at different deck heights. Adjusting my deck from highest at "3" to "2" leaves the ground clear of any trace of leafs and even tree nuts. The next day I tackled the the whole project - nearly an acre. I completed the entire property in 4.5 hours , which included around an hour of prep in blowing leaves from the roof, deck, patios, and all the landscaping. I am fortunate to have woods and a ravine at the back of my yard so unloading (about every 5-7 minutes with the tremendous amount of leaves we have) was easy. Reduction in leaves is substantial between my mower deck and the vac blades. I was worried about the 6" hose on this unit vs the larger 7"/8" on competitors but my experience is that doesn't seem to be an issue. I had a very occasional plug up which generally occurred in the boot but was likely my fault in throttling down the mower and/or vac in some sequence right before I prepared to unload. This unit is well built and in my opinion a great design. I don't have a ton of storage and the hard top units are so bulky and are really very single-purpose. With the soft top pulled back you could use this as a lawn cart pretty easily. The B&S engine looks and sounds good. The hardware included is of good construction and the replacement parts seem readily available from the manufacturer and at pretty economical prices. And it has a 3-year warranty for additional peace of mind. I'm sure competitive products are just as good in their function but for the money, ability to store, and perceived availability of parts if needed, this unit has a high value proposition. I'm looking at the remote hose kit for this unit as well and it's about half the cost of the competitors. Bottom line is I'd buy this again and again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge time saver I have a yard with a lot of trees, and neighbors trees that drop/blow in my yard. I would spend hours and hours raking and dragging them away on a tarp, it was a workout to say the least. what typically took a better part of a day I can now do in a hour and a half. I own a John Deere, 20 hp, with the grass catcher option. this unit's collection hose fits perfectly inside the grass catcher tube. This Model is a good fit for my yard, about 20,000 sq ft. time is important, this bad boy is a huge time saver

Will this unit work with a cub cadet RZT54 54

Asked by: Joseph57
Dear Joseph57 - Yes, the Agri-Fab vac system will attach to your Cub Cadet mower. Please note that zero turn mowers will require the hose extension kit (p/n 65640 sold separately) this allows you an additional 3.5 feet of hose. In addition, you will need to make wider turns and travel at a slower rate of speed. If you have additional questions please contact the Agri-Fab customer care team at 800-448-9282 Monday -Friday between 7 am to 5 pm CST.

I am confused why it says the hose for the mower deck that comes with the machine is 6” diameter and the remote hose is 5” diameter.. am I missing something?

Asked by: Sweetman
Dear Sweetman - The remote hose kit is an optional piece of equipment used around gardens and shrubs. It has a separate hose and adapter that you can take on and off when needed. The 6-in diameter hose that comes with the Vac system is for attaching the mower deck using the enclosed deck adapter to the vac system. If you have additional questions please contact the Agri- Fab customer care team at 800-448-9282 Monday- Friday between 7 am to 5 pm CST.

Will this fit on a bad boy magnum 54” mower

Asked by: Matt456
Dear Matt456 - The Agri-Fab vac system will fit your Bad Boy mower as long as it has a right-side discharge and a belly mounted mower deck. If your Bad Boy is a zero-turn you will need to purchase the (model 65640) hose extension kit. In addition, you will have to create your own template for the deck adapter. You do this by tracing the mower opening onto a cardboard box. If you have additional questions the Agri-Fab customer care team is available Monday -Friday between 7 am to 5 pm CST at 800-448-9282.

Dear bob588888 - Thank you for considering the Agri-Fab soft top mow-n-vac. The criteria for fit-up are: 1. right side discharge mower 2. belly mounted mower deck 3. deck size of 54" or smaller.
