Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Pooch’s Top Pick We switched to this product when your lab was diagnosed with a chicken allergy. So since one needed something different we switched all five of our dogs! I though dogs were not supposed to eat pork products. How is this different?

Asked by: Jrose5335
Dogs not being able to eat pork is an old wives’ tail. Pork loin is often used by people who make home cooked diets for their pets, as it is highly digestible. Also, many dogs with adverse reactions to food, tolerate pork very well. Fat from pork is a highly digestible source of linoleic acid, the essential n-6 for dogs, due to where the fatty acids are linked to the glycerol backbone of the TAG. The majority of the pork comes from the liver.

We ordered the Pork and Potato Formula dog food online and received Pork and Vegetable Formula. Did the formula change or just the name? The vegetable formula isn’t even listed online so we can’t compare ingredients.

Asked by: Kluithle
The wording on the packaging did change to reflect Pork and Vegetables; however, it is still the same formulation.

I've been reading about grain-free foods and heart disease in dogs. Does this food contain any taurine? I don't see it on the list of ingredients.

Asked by: AZRoxy
The FDA is investigating a previously unknown but potential link between a condition called DCM, or dilated cardiomyopathy, and dog foods containing peas, lentils, other legumes or potatoes as main ingredients (primarily grain-free). Because taurine deficiency can be associated with DCM, a possible link between diet and the diagnosis is being explored. Taurine has not been recognized as an essential ingredient in dog food. All the 4Health dog foods have both Cysteine and Methionine which dogs naturally turn into Taurine. Additional Taurine is also added to all grain free foods per AAFCO regulations. Additional Taurine is also added to all senior and large dog breed food that is not labeled as GRAIN FREE. ALL 4Health Grain Free Foods are also Meat based diets, and the study is based on Vegetable based grain free dog foods

My dogs have been loving the Pork food dry food. Is it ok to switch between the pork and duck just for a variety for the dogs? Or is it better just to stick to one flavor?

Asked by: Gabbie181
We would recommend consulting your vet prior to switching your pets feed.
