    Jen's Double Chocolate Cookies

Jennifer Scott, of Lockport, NY, created this recipe when she was making regular chocolate chip cookies and didn’t have all the ingredients. “The chocolate (bits) do something to intensify the chocolate flavor,” she writes. Her children particularly love this recipe. “I'm lucky if a batch will last until the next day,” she writes.

    Oatmeal Lace Cookies

When Tiffany Trummer, of Omaha, NE, makes these cookies, she’s continuing a family tradition of at least six generations. "It is my favorite because it is so delicate and tasty," she writes. "Not only can you eat them as cookies but crumble them up and use as ice cream toppings. I even like them when they get browner just before one would consider them too dark and burned. And, by the way, they burn easily."

    Cherry Winks

"This cookie recipe is the absolute favorite of my children, family, and friends of over 30+ years," writes Karen Moore, of La Grange, TX. "When the children were young, they loved taking part in mixing up the mixture and rolling the bars in the wax paper to refrigerate. I've given them in gift baskets already cooked, as well as in cold rolls, just as you would see a cold roll of cookies in the store," she says. "Adding some teas or coffees makes a delightful winter's gift."

    Southern Pride Cookies

When Marcia Norris, of Gainesboro, Tenn., moved from the Midwest to the South, she "southernized" a cookie recipe handed down from her grandmother.

"The pecans were not in the original recipe,” she says. “I added pecans, which are southern, and I renamed the recipes."
