When is it time for a second box?

Content supplied by Harvest Lane Honey

This article is written for the new beekeeper who has installed packaged bees for the first time this year.  When you first start out, the building of the comb on the frames can feel like a slow process. However, you will be surprised how rapidly this can occur and you will have a need for an additional box.  As the bees build out the comb on the frames and 8 of 9 of the frames are filled (if you are using an inside feeder) or 9 of 10 frames are filled (if you are using another form of feeder), you will then add a 2nd Deep Combo Box.
