    Nantucket Cranberry Pie

Submitted by Holly Hermstedt, of Lincoln, Del.

"My family and I wait anxiously every fall for the fresh crop of cranberries," writes Holly. "One of our favorite recipes has become a tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This recipe is very easy and tasty, and it looks beautiful. The holidays wouldn't be the same without it."

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups raw cranberries
    • 1½ cups sugar (divided)
    • ½ cup chopped walnuts
    • ¾ cup melted margarine
    • 1 tsp. almond extract
    • 1 cup flour
    • 2 eggs, beaten

    Directions

Grease 10-inch pie plate. Wash berries and put on bottom of plate. Sprinkle with ½ cup sugar and the walnuts. Make a batter with the remaining ingredients. Pour batter over cranberries. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until set.
