Lite Sausage Primavera

Ruth found a version of this recipe about 20 years ago and tweaked it to fit into her family's healthy diet by using low-fat sausage and whole wheat pasta. It's plenty tasty; when her daughter got married, she requested the recipe to make for her own family.


  • ½ lb. pasta uncooked
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. Hillshire Farm Lite smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 small onion, cut into wedges
  • 1 small zucchini, cut into julienne strips
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp. chicken flavor instant bouillon
  • 1 tsp. basil leaves
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Dash pepper


Prepare pasta according to directions. Drain. In medium skillet, heat oil. Add sausage and remaining ingredients EXCEPT pasta. Stir fry until sausage is browned and vegetables are tender. Add pasta, toss to coat. Heat through.
