Homemade Salad Dressing

"If you've ever tried a fresh-made salad dressing, you know that there is nothing store-bought that can compare," writes Tonya Young. "When I first tasted this dressing, it was with my husband's family who made it for a Sunday lunch salad, drizzled over freshly broken Romaine lettuce. They had improvised it by adding more lemon and the fresh, lemony taste was so wonderful, I had to get the recipe. Now I make it all the time because in addition to having such a great flavor, it takes about 3 minutes to make. It's so worth it!

"You can use it over a simple green salad, a salad with fresh garden vegetables added, or with strawberries and Parmesan cheese over greens."


  • â…” cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • â…” cup honey
  • â…” cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbs. olive oil


Whisk together lemon juice, honey, and Dijon mustard. Slowly add olive oil while whisking. Continue to whisk until olive oil has emulsified and the dressing is well blended. Add salt and pepper to taste.

You can alter the measurements of the original ingredients to emphasize one of the flavors above the others. For a light, lemony dressing, you can increase the amount of lemon juice you use. If you like more of a mustard kick, add more mustard.
