How to Measure H2O Livestock Tank Capacity

When raising livestock many factors need to be considered when developing watering sources for livestock. One of the most important things to do involves keeping a fresh and plentiful supply of clean drinking water available free choice at all times. Adequate amounts of water are needed to maintain high levels of production. Limiting water intake reduces animal performance quicker and more drastically than any other nutrient deficiency

Make sure your livestock has a plentiful supply of clean and fresh drinking water by measuring the capacity of your stock tank. You will need to know the circumference and diameter of your livestock water tank.

    • Circumference - Distance around a circle.
    • Diameter - Straight line passing through the center of a circle.

Conversion table for measuring livestock water tank capacity
    1 gallon = 231 cubic inches
    4 quarts = 1 gallon (gal)
