Hobart Variable Shade Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet is a lightweight, polyamide nylon material, make this Hobart Hood™ attractive, comfortable and durable. The auto-darkening lens switches from a light state to a dark state, using two independent arc sensors. The variable shade (9 - 13) lens technology offers protection during any welding process. It has an internal adjustment for the lens shade, sensitivity and delay. Ideal for home and farm applications. Includes: 5 front lens covers and 2 back lens covers.
- Reaction time is 1/12,000 second
- Viewing field - 3.74 x 1.57 inches
- Variable shade - #9 to #13 darkened state, #4 light state
- Sensitivity control - makes the lens more responsive to different light levels
- Delay control - adjusts the time for the lens to switch to the clear state after welding - 0.1 to 0.5 seconds

Better than expected for the price.

I was learning to weld on a fix shade hood and when we got the XVS, never picked up the fix shade agian. This hood has great auto darkening and can easily be adjusted. The shades are perfect for MIG welding, ranging for 9-13. The head bands are easy to adjust with gloves on which i thought was a plus. I welded for two and a half hours building trucks and never had a problem with it other than the batteries dying on me (also an easy fix) The field of view is good, not the greatest but really was no problem. All in all, Hobart really outdid themselves with a good hood and a great price.

A great purchase

I purchased this helmet for my father for Christmas and he was very pleased with the quality of the product. I actually had a rain check on a different model, but once they realized the would not receive them in time for Christmas they offered this model instead. Was very pleased with the customer service that I received at the store.

A great welding helmet for the money - no fancy paint - it just works! The auto dark feature is fast and does the job. Comes with extra inside and outside replacement covers.
Hobart did a good job building this helmet and Tractor Supply is a great place to buy all you welding needs.
