I bought this welder after much research online and much reading on how to weld properly. I've always had friends that knew how to weld and wanted a welder of my own. I settled upon this unit and am so very pleased that I did. This little beauty will churn out beautiful welds and it only took me 4 short passes of practice to start laying clean, deep beads using everything I had learned from my books. I haven't used any shielding gas yet, but having the regulator come with the unit is a nice perk. I've used this unit to weld on a new back half air suspension onto my S10 truck, along with welding plates onto my front lower control arms and other various repairs to metal furniture and small things for the neighbors. Pay close attention to the duty cycle! I've gotten over-zealous a couple times and tripped the circuit breaker, but no harm done. I purchased my welder with an auto darkening mask and gloves. I recommend an auto darkening mask for beginners for them to see where they're striking their arc. I will happily purchase another Hobart welder in the future should the need ever arise. About Tractor Supply: The personnel were very friendly and went out of their way to load the welder onto a cart, scan it, and roll it out to my vehicle and load it for me when I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself. It's that little bit extra that sets a store and it's people apart from the rest. I love shopping at TSC!

I purchased this welder recently it is my first I did a lot of research before I did. I am so happy with this thing I have never welded before the people at the store were very helpful in getting me setup. BIG THANKS TO TERESA!!! It was so easy to get started now it is my favorite tool. I would get the tank with the gas its makes welding so much easier and cleaner but it does work fine with out it.

Purchased this welder for my shop 12/2010. Does everything I need it to do and more, just hooked up to a gas cylinder to cut down on splatter w/ flux core. Very stable arc !
