Wood & Coal Stoves
Heating with coal or wood has been part of “life out here” for generations. And the reasons that made installing stoves practical in the old days make even more sense today.
Whether you want to heat up a workshop or garage, make your home more cozy and inviting, want a reliable back-up heat source during winter power outages or simply want to lower your heating bill, Tractor Supply has the right coal burning or wood burning stove for the job.
Choosing the right style and size
The first choice to make is what type of fuel you want to burn, which is largely a matter of personal preference. We carry a large selection of coal stoves, wood stoves and even stoves that burn both coal and wood. If you’re having a hard time deciding which type is best for you, please ask one of our team members for help.
Even more important than which type of fuel you want to burn is choosing a stove that’s the right size for the area you want to heat. A stove that is too small won’t sufficiently heat an area. Conversely, a stove meant to heat a much larger area will generate too much heat.
As a rule of thumb, we recommend measuring the square footage of the area you want to heat and checking the specifications of the stoves you are considering to be sure they can do the job efficiently. You’ll find a “Heats up to” or “Area covered” spec listed with most stoves we sell.
Other considerations that go into choosing the right stove size are what part of the country you live in, whether the area to be heated is insulated or not and whether the area to be heated has a door to the outside that is apt to be opened and closed many times during the day.
Once you’ve chosen the right stove for you, the team at Tractor Supply is ready to help you enjoy it for years to come. We have log splitters, wood racks, coal hods, coal, wood pellets and everything else you need to stay warm all winter long.
