Wire Puller - not very good.
Date:October 16, 2011
Very frustrating to use, not a one person puller. This wire puller does not work on barb-less or smooth wire very well. The wire slips through the jaws and I finally had to use visegrips on the back of the puller to stop the wire from slipping through. The jaws are smooth and offer little pulling surface. Im sure these would work great on barbed wire since they would have something to grab onto.

Unless you have some rusty fence wire that this will grip upon, don't bother. I bought this because it was made in USA over the chinesium version. Well, I think I wasted my money.
This clamp couldn't grip wire even if it were covered in super glue and sandpaper.
I could not get the gripper to grip tight enough to put much of a pull on it to keep it from slipping. I tried about 40 different ways to grip it onto the wire, or at least get my best "grip" on it as it were. A few pounds of pull and it would slip after that. Couldn't even get the wire taut.
Don't bother. Get the split ring wire gripper if you want it to work.

Works with a little patience

The barbed wire I was working with often slipped out of the cam that locks it down. With some practice I got it to work regularly. I plan to add a latch to keep the wire in place until it gets tension on it.

I purchased both the Wire Gripper and a Tuff Tug Wire Clamp. I tried to use the Tuff Tug first and after I got the wire tight, it slipped, and I was unable to get it to bit properly again. So I tried the Wire Gripper. I was able to stretch the wire tight with no slippage.
