Santa bought me & my son 1 each!
Date:December 26, 2011
It weights 16 #'s, not 12! You JUST LIFT IT & DROP IT! 2' for small blocks, & over Your head for 3' x 18" blocks (maple or oak!) No need to swing it like a 4# axe! The weight does the work! Your wook should be 1.) dry, or 2.) frozen! if wet! If it does get stuck, just hit it with an 8# sledge to split even the big boys! The maul / sledge combination works so well, I got rid of my 10 ton gas splitter! No gas, oil, hydraulic fluid, storage, maintenance & transportation problems. I can carry the maul & sledge into a remote camp, No Problem! THE ONLY PROBLEM I THINK I WILL HAVE WITH THIS IS SOMEONE TAKING IT FOR THEMSELVES! ( I did stamp our names on them! ??? deterant?? My old "Mega Mail" grew legs & walked away!) I am 61 & usually burn 7 to 10 cords a year!

the maul
Date:November 6, 2010
i use the maul every year for about 5 years. I heat my whole house with wood. would not use anything but this maul. i have split logs up to 3 feet wide it's funny to see people come over and try to use it. I have to show them how,if you hit the log around the edges frist then move in it works well

Works well - good buy

I hand split more wood in 2009 with this maul than i care to admit. I learned some hard lessons in the process. This tool is great for splitting smaller amounts of wood but for someone who heats with wood in the winter it may be better to gather a large amount of wood rounds and rent/buy the gas powered splitter.
Having said that - I have already begun to swing this maul in 2010.
