Not Completely Squirrel Proof
Date:June 26, 2011
We have seen a squirrel actually climb INTO the feeder and start munching on seed. For the most part, the squirrels do get frustrated and jump off when they can't get their grubby paws on some seeds. One squirrel was very smart and stood "just right" where he could squeeze his paw under the perch cover. The window feature is nice. You know when to refill. The quality is heavy duty & gets heavier as you fill with seed. Filling the feeder is very easy!

Heavy feeder
Date:December 12, 2009
My husband bought this feeder for me along with many others. I feed all the flock & critters that come my way. I liked the fact the bars close if heavy birds or mainly squirrels got on it. But this is a very heavy feeder even just half full & the wire to hang it with can hurt your hands when putting it up. It's also not the easiest to clean like the wood one & after being out in the sun one season it turned very pink. ( which is dull & ugly now) Thinking it was squirrel proof proved me wrong, some how those critter got on top of it & reached over & chewed through the wooden rods for the birds to perch on. I've seen it all now & never did anything with it after that. Of all the feeders, I prefer the wooden ceder ones best, they last forever & are super easy to clean. Unlike most fancy ones that look pretty for the first month or so.

SUPER bird feeder!!
Date:November 28, 2009
Got one for my Mom who was spending $40 a week to feed the squirrels. It works! We watch the squirrels try to rob it and fall off onto the ground...great entertainment in itself. After a few days the birds get used to it and fly in to feed anyway.
This is a nice setup which should last many years since it is heavy duty metal construction. I fill it one a week--not several times a day, like the old feeders.
Id suggest this feeder to anyone who has squirrel freeloader problems.
