Our dogs love it, and so do our cats
Date:February 25, 2010
We originally purchased the large size pad last fall for our black German Shepherd, but our small cockapoo took one look and promptly appropriated it, so we purchased a smaller size for him. He glanced at the smaller one and refused to give up the larger one to our shepherd, so we purchased another large one. Our cats decided the smaller one works for them. Our dogs are quite active, and the beds are used as "rest spots" during the day as well as for nighttime sleeping. The interior is a sealed plastic-covered thin foam pad, while the exterior is a zip-off soft fleece. Using normal care, I've zipped off the covers and washed them on a warm/cold permanent press setting, drying them on a permanent press setting as well, no high heat so as to avoid possible shrinking. I don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets, yet these came out of the dryer reasonably soft and fluffy. After washing and drying, the covers slipped back onto the interior pads with a small amount of effort to line up the pads with the covers, like fitting a pillowcase onto a pillow. Based on our experience, I recommend purchasing the large size bed even if your dog is small.

Great product and price
Date:February 12, 2010
I bought this for a stray cat currently staying in our garage. It's thick and the fleece is warm so he can stretch himself out and not freeze. I especially like the fact that the cover is removable and washable. I think this would be great for any pet, let alone a pitiful stray in this particular bitterly cold Ohio winter. The packaging recommends not for animals over 80 lbs, but I would only go to about 50 since the core is foam and I think it would be too easily flattened by anything heavier.

a waste of money
Date:February 4, 2010
I had to return the first ortho bed I bought for my 11 yr old dog. The zipper broke and the cover would not fit after washing per instructions. The new one is not much better - after washing, it takes 2 people to put it back on. In addition, potty accidents soak into the foam and cause the bed to smell. It was not a very good purchase for the money.
