Great for my application--mainly "garaged"
Date:April 21, 2012
I bought a Ware chicken hutch and pen three years ago for four baby chicks and set it up in the garage. I built a run along side the garage and moved the setup outside and attached the hutch/pen to it. However, our Kansas weather wind, rain, hail, etc was taking its toll even with a tarp over the hutch. A small pet door was cut into the garage and I moved the hutch and pen into the garage connected to the pet door opening. The hens learned to use the pet door--:-) yes, they will--they LOVE their hutch and will go where ever it is! I just acquired three new baby chicks and found the same hutch on sale at Tractor Supply so the new "peeps" are secure in their new hutch in the garage! I will probably look for the pen for them as well as well. It has really been a great solution for me as I could not build anything even close for the the money and most important, the chickens are happy!.

VERY POOR QUALITY
Date:April 18, 2012
I would not recommend this product or any product made by this company to anyone. This company uses very poor quaility wood, the holes either did not line up or were not there at all. Very disappointed!!!

Not so hot

I'd say it's just barely worth the money.
If you're handy with a saw and drill... get some pressure treated wood, some hardware cloth, and build it yourself.
Very cheap, cheesy wood, with a light stain. Numerous structural splits in the wood I had to repair during initial assembly. If you don't live in a desert, it'll need painting ASAP.
My biggest beef is the assembly directions; not only poorly written, but also critical illustrations and steps left out... in some cases the product in the box didn't even match the directions!
(BTW; I might be qualified to criticize: my undergrad degree was in *Technical Writing* and I worked as such for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft)
I bought the pen and hutch about a week apart; exact same story for both. End result, I wasted about 30 minutes (2x!) because of Ware's negligence.
I called Ware's HQ, and politely expressed my displeasure at this happening twice...but, instead of what we consumers LIKE to hear ("I'm very sorry, how can we make this right for you?" ...I got the response: "well, things change!"

Great hutch!
Date:April 10, 2012
This is the fifth hutch I've purchased. I use them not only for chicks but also for new chickens and for any that are having to be watched closely for any reason. They are super easy to access, clean out and they are well made. I keep mine under the carport so they are not out in the weather too much but the oldest ones are now 3 yrs old and look none the worse for the wear. Would definitely recommend!
