Poor choice

I bought this collar last week (9/24) for a large Golden Retriever and it worked one day and then the beeper stopped working. When it started working again the beeper was so soft it could not be heard. When I tried to use the shocker, it didn't work either. I tested the distance and when the beeper would work it stopped beeping less than 60 feet away. I am in the process of returning it. Batteries in both parts when tested were good but I replaced both anyway. No improvement. Poor choice.

Save your dog's life

I have never liked the idea of a 'shock collar' until my new Boxer, adopted from the shelter, started jumping the chain link fence. Since you cannot watch them every moment they are outside I had to find a way to discourage the fence jumping so she wouldn't be hit by a car or get lost. This product has a choice to shock or submit a high frequency sound. The sound alone would stop her immediately as she would look for the source. I used a very low shock only once when she jumped on the fence and she has not repeated it since. There is a dial that let's you choose how strong the shock and how loud the sound is. I recommend this product to keep your pet safe.

Great Training Aid!

We have a alpha female German Shepherd who presented various challenges during training. One main issue was her aggressive behavior towards people walking near our fenced-in property. She would charge the fence at full speed and aggressively jump towards people creating quite a scene. After repeated attempts at conventional training, I decided, with some reservations, to use the Petsafe Training collar which utilizes a warning sound and then a series of incremental electric shocks to effect a change in the dog's behavior. By utilizing the handbook which outlines the proper way to use the collar, we were able to correct this unwanted behavior and we no longer worry about our dog's behavior at the fence line. She allows people to walk near our fence without a reaction.This product, if correctly utilized, can be an effective training aid and can change your dog's behavior in a short time. Just be sure to follow the instructions that come with the collar and it should only be used by a responsible adult. Great product that has definitely made our lives easier.
