no more cub cadet for me
Date:September 10, 2011
I purchased this item to replace my husqvarna and am I ever disappointed.
It was hard to start and when it did get running, it would die under load. I was never able to put the choke int position 3 - had to keep it in 2 even after it warmed up or it would bog down and shut off.
It lasted less than 2 months and now it won't start at all - fuel delivery issues - and I only used to three times.
I'm heading out to get another husqvarna right now.
If your brave enough to try this pathetic excuse for a power tool, make sure you buy for the Tractor Supply extended warranty - I didn't and now it's in the garbage.
I only gave it one star because there was no option for zero stars.

Cub Cadet CC2090 Awsome!
Date:September 10, 2011
I bought this product to cut bushes with and it works great! I bought a bush cutting blade elsewhere and attached it to the brush cutting attachment and was very happy when it worked perfectly. I've even cut down small trees up to 3" in diameter. Best trimmer I've ever owned.

Disappointed
Date:August 19, 2011
After reading all the positive reviews, I thought this would be a good trimmer to use around our house and ranch. I've probably owned every make of trimmer on the market, but none of them really lasted, so I decided to try Cub Cadet. Maybe I got a one-off defect, I don't know, but this trimmer has been a major disappointment, most of it coming from apparent quality control issues.
Pros:
-The starting procedure works.
-It starts VERY reliably.
-It has lots of power: 31cc is bigger than the usual 26cc you see in many trimmers.
-The bump feed works very reliably also, a major issue with many trimmers.
Cons:
-The attachment head is crooked - not lined up parallel with the motor. It's turned about 15 degrees.
-There's some kind of fuel leak, I suspect in the gas cap, but I swear I can't find anything. After a few minutes of use, the top of the motor is dripping wet with fuel. The cap doesn't seem to fit the fuel tank.
-Some parts were missing in the box - a nut and a washer.
-The brush cutter attachment, which was critically important to me, doesn't lock down solid; it free-spins, so if it hits a tough weed, it just stops.
-Regardless of what attachment is being used, the vibration is horrendous. After about 5 minutes, my hands get so numb they ache. I've never in my life seen a trimmer vibrate like this! This alone makes it basically unusable, at least for more than a couple of minutes.
I was quite surprised to have all these problems after reading the glowing reviews above, but this has been my honest experience with this trimmer. Maybe this one is just a lemon; I plan to return it and exchange it for another one.

Good Trimmer
Date:May 9, 2011
I bought this trimmer this weekend after using a Stihl for years. Assembled the unit, fueled it up, but it would not start. Tried everything, but it would not fire. Took it back to TSC. They couldn't get it started either. Gave me another unit. Assembled it and it fired right up. No idea what was wrong with the first one. Good running trimmer. Lots of power. Good value for the money especially compared to the high end brands. It will get many hours of use at my farm. We will see how it holds up.
