2012 model LTX 1050:
Previously owned a JD140 with a 48" deck and similar motor and this Cub performs much better.
I can mow at full speed, which is almost too fast, and it cuts beautifully; dare I say better than my John Deere. I have a very hilly lawn that is about 1.3 acres and the hydrostatic transmission never shows signs of weakness or hesitation.
The deck on this bad boy is a monster, not only because of its extra 2" but because of its construction. You could smash into your foundation or sideswipe your rock well blowing it to pieces and the deck isn't going to tweak or bend on you.
Seat is super comfortable with a quick adjusting lever on it for sliding forward or back. The seat also folds up giving quick and easy access to the tractors battery.
The 24 hp Kohler motor is nice to have and in lawn tractor land operates quietly. It has an easy spin-on oil filter and easy access to the air fiTlter.
2 cons - the choke position is above full throttle, I do not like starting my tractor on high idle. Fortunately you can go from choke right down to low idle and it stays running just fine. Second con is a small 1.25" lip on the mowing decks left side, opposite the shoot. If I mow right up to a flower bed or the foundation this lip doesn't allow my blades to get right up to what I'm mowing. It's nothing serious and still cuts the grass well but will leave that one or two blades of grass standing along your target. I clean those up with the Cub weed wacker.
Overall the operation, cut, ride, and quality of this tractor is truly great. And I would recommend this tractor to anyone.

P.s. - the "plowing" that people are referring to is caused by the extreme turning radius and their speed. You do need to pay attention when mowing at full lock of the steering wheel.

LTX 1050 Limitations

I was expecting this upgraded mower to work as well or better as previous owned riding mowers, NOT SO!!! The deck clogs even with the deflector propped open. The seat safety switch is too sensitive and you cannot shift your weight to get traction on a slipping wheel or pick up an object from the grass. It will not operate in areas of my yard that my other less powerful mowers worked well. I am planning to add wheel weights hoping this will help. If your lawn is perfectly flat and the grass is very dry it may work for you. The deck wash doesn't work. The mow in reverse feature only works sometimes and its Quicker to just shut off the deck when you back up and only mow forward. It has a very small fuel tank and it needs some tow rings to help recover it when a wheel finds a small dip in your lawn. No switch to turn off the headlights, why?? Those plastic handles on both sides are so weak they are worthless.

WOW! My husband bought this for me & I love it!!! We have a huge yard on a lake, so this bad boy does everything I need... Lots of power to tow my wagon up the hill... Cuts like a dream... I have my drink holder & iPhone with tunes... What more can a wife ask for...lol

I purchased the LTX 1050 today and I am very happy with the mower, I mowed two of my neighbors yards after doing mine, just didn't want to stop! I had purchased a 54 inch cut Husqvarna the week before and ended up taking it back, the Cub Cadet is way ahead of the Husqvarna. Love the foot controlled Hydrostatic Trany, rides great and cuts great and the turning radius is awesome. Tractor Supply gave me a mower lift with my purchase, they were very good about explaining the warranty and any other questions I had. Thanks Tractor Supply!
