I bought this generator after pricing Honda's for several weeks. I went on line and read the reviews and about 97% of them for this generator were excellent. When I brought it home I realized that in order to make this generator truly mobile I would need a wheel set. I proceeded to build my own wheel set. I installed the wheel set I built. I read the manual put oil and fuel in it and turned on the fuel valve put the choke on and turned on the ignition switch. Pulled on the starter rope and it started instantly. I proceeded to plug several things into the outlets and the generator handled them all. After about twenty minutes of running I topped off the fuel tank and put a cover on it and put it in the garage.
About a week later (Thanksgiving Week) we were having the whole family over (17 of them) for a dinner that my daughter was preparing at our home. My daughter was cooking a pork recipe and had two crock pots going. about two hours before the family was to arrive our power went out. Everyone panicked myself included then I remembered the generator. We rolled the generator up to the back patio and it started instantly. Plugged both crock pots into the generator and my wife commented to bad she could not vacuum prior to the company's arrival. We plugged the vacuum into the generator along with the two crock pots that were already plugged in and the generator handled everything. Right before the company arrived the power came back on, by that time everything was cooked. Topped off the fuel again and put the generator back in the garage for the next emergency. I love this generator already. If it continues to start easily and has good longevity I would say this generator is an awesome value for the price. I purchased it at Tractor Supply Naturally, since they have always been great to deal with.

pumps water!
Date:December 20, 2011
I bought this unit for its 220V output and wattage. I successfully used it to run my 220V 1hp electric well pump which is at the bottom of my 250 foot deep well. If you're looking for a generator that can run a well pump, this unit is the one to get for the price and for the output. When taking the load (as the well pump came on line), the lights in my house dimmed just a little for a second or so. I could hear the generator take the load, but it was not bogged down or overloaded at all. For purposes of comparison, most manufacturer suggest their 5000W units to pump water (which are much more expensive, noisier, and use more fuel).
The only reason for four stars (not five) is that the selector switch on the side is awkward and a poor design: the generator can only send power to one of the three outlets at any given time. If you buy this unit, and are not connecting it directly to your house (check local codes of course!), I suggest also buying a 220 twist-lock plug, a length of 220V wire (4 conductor--two "hots" a neutral and ground) and a pair of 110V outlets in a double-gang box. This will give you four 110 outlets instead of just one. I think you can also buy a similar "extension cord" ready-made.
The unit is well made and starts easily with the choke engaged after a few easy pulls. It takes a few minutes to warm up and run at a steady speed. Once it has stopped "hunting," it is ready to run several household loads simultaneously.
I ran the gas out of this unit and store it with a little oil in the cylinder so it will be ready the next time the power goes out. It has a metal fuel tank, so I would not store gasoline in there for a long time, as modern ethanol-blend fuels deteriorate after a only few weeks. Use a fuel stabilizer or store it dry of fuel (as I do) to protect your wise investment.
I recommend this unit and am already planning to buy another for a relative.

I recently purchased this generator on line, when I recieved it from u.p.s. it was broken-up a bit so I called the customer hot line and they were very helpful with finding a store close by that had recently got a shipment of generators in.I went and traded for another one with absolutly no hassle what so ever,I got it home and it started with 1 pull and although I have not had to use it yet I feel confident that it will perform up to the other reviews i've read on this product

Generator as promised.

The Champion arrived on time at my local store. directions were straight forward regarding generator setup. The only glitch was a broken plastic air filter cover. I haven't contacted the customer support yet. The generator started on the second pull and ,very quickly, came off the choke. The hardest part was attaching the wheel kit handle( directions were vague and picture not helpful). My son just ordered his own Champion.
