Pros: ease of assembly, Easy to Use, Weight, Handling/Manueverability, Quality Construction, Reduced Noise, Quality Cut, Style/Design, Features, low vibration
Bought this product to clear my property. Use it for several long days and it performed well. Bought Husqvarna sharpening kit for it, this kit sharpens chain easy and accurately. This is the first Husqvarna product I have ever purchased and so far I am very satisfied.
I had owned a Stihl chainsaw for over 15 years and never had the bar plug up. I used my brand new Husqvarna twice and already had to take it into the service center, as the sprocket in the bar locked up. Service Center said because of wet saw dust in the bar. I advised that that is normal, as Self oiling chain + saw dust = wet saw dust. I called Husqvarna to advise of issue. I spoke with Jessica in Escalations x8398 and she advised that you must clean the bar regularly to avoid this problem. I advised that this happened during operation, she said my only option was to see if the retailer would accept the return of the unit, as she did not consider it defective. I advise d her that I will never again buy another product from Husqvarna again, as this is not normal for a chainsaw.

The saw could have a bad bar. Before giving up on the saw, change the bar. The nose sprocket does have grease holes and should be greased regularly. Wet saw dust and oily saw dust are 2 different things.

One of Husky's better saws for the money!
Date:January 2, 2012
The 450 is one of the better saws in Husqvarna's "Landowner" 400-series saws (midrange saws between their 200-series "consumer" saws and pro-grade "XP" saws).
At 50 cc's, it's large enough for felling and bucking firewood, but still light enough for limbing work or a long day of cutting. Given the smaller size, it does take a bit of patience if you are bucking up 14"+ diameter wood. Keeping the chain sharp helps with that (and is much easier on you and your saw than forcing a dull chain into the wood). In my opinion, a 16" bar would be a better match for this saw's balance and power (save the stock 18" bar & chain for a spare).
The Husky 450 is in a real "sweet spot" in Husky's mid-range saw line-up. It has the best power-to-weight-ratio of that series. It's not generally a saw a professional logger or firewood processor would chose. however the 450 can get the job done for most landowners. If you cut a lot of larger diameter wood, you may want to step up to a 460, or if money is not an obstacle, one of Husky's pro-level saws.
