Description
The Allied Precision 2002DP Universal Drain Plug De-Icer mounts securely into the stock tank drain hole to keep the heating element away from livestock. The 2002DP has a specially designed plug to fit through all drain holes 3/4 in. diameter or larger. Adjustable standoffs prevent the heating element from contacting the walls or bottom of the tank.

never lasts through a season

I have gone through 4 of these heaters in 2 years. About mid-winter they go out because of lime buildup. I have not found anything better so I keep buying another one. The guarantee doesn't apply to this type of malfunction. Just saying.

Very Disappointed

I bought this item back on December 3rd. Installed about 2 weeks later so this has only been used less than 2 months and already is broken. It developed a small hole on one of the heating elements which grew larger every day until it stop working altogether. Now I have to empty my water tank in freezing temperatures to send this item back to the company.

Great Investment

My husband and I recently purchased this heater for the 60 gallon stock tank in our horse pasture. We installed it yesterday because the temperature was to drop below freezing last night. When we woke up this morning and checked the water tank for ice there was none! Also, we noticed before that our horses were not drinking as much water when it was cold outside. This morning, the water level had dropped considerably from them drinking.
An additional benefit to this heater is that the horses cannot reach the heater or the plug as the heater stays secured at the bottom of the tank and the plug is not hung over the side of the tank, but runs out the back of the tank where the drain plug is.
This was a great investment and will keep us from having to bust icy water tanks on freezing mornings!

Good product made even better

I started buying these tank heaters last year. The adjustable stops on the heating element have made this a great product. With record cold temperatures this Winter, I am always pleased to see the steam rising off the stock tank because I know my horses will drink more water if it is warmed to over 40 degrees.
