Ok unit
Date:August 16, 2011
If you need a waterer now and want to keep you initial investment down this is your waterer.
Pros: - Available now - Decent volume
Cons: - Design pulls water from external supply lip into unit. If water in lip is nasty it goes into the main reservoir. - As others have stated sealing problems with top cap. We notice the cap will sometimes slightly cross thread. It doesn't damage the unit but causes it not to seal correctly. - Lifespan - with heavy use ours only lasted about 2 years.
A bell waterer is a bigger investment but higher quality.

Not happy with this thing

If we tighten the top to keep it from running constantly (until the tank is empty) no water will come out at all. It holds a great vacuum. And my chickens go thirsty. I have to go out and loosen the top and allow the water to flow. Then close the top so all the water does not run out.

Easy to use

Recently purchased one of these waterers. The top-fill feature is great, no more fliping the waterer upside-down to fill. The 5 gallon capicity allows me to have to refill every other day instead of daily. To prevent water from seeping out, you must insure that the lid is screwed down securly to create seal with the O-ring.

5 Gallon waterer

The place where the water comes out is hard to clean, dirt gets stuck there. Convenient place to put white cap when in use. Easy to clean the main part.
