Controlling Algae In Your Pond
Date:February 17, 2010
Ponds with shallow areas less than 2-3 feet deep are more susceptible to algae and weed growth, particularly filamentous algae in early Spring. Cutrine Plus is quite effective for controlling this if properly applied. The key is temperature. As soon as the water temperature is north of 55 degrees apply diluted Cutrine Plus according to directions with a sprayer. If necessary, use your boat or put on a pair of waders in order to reach affected areas. Filamentous algae begins to appear as a dark, sub-surface shadow. You don't have to wait until it covers the surface to begin application. Plan on repeating once or twice before Summer arrives. Safe for pond creatures and livestock too.
