TSC Helping Customers Through the Storm
Nearly every year, hurricanes force people to leave their homes during the dangerous weather, and many return to find their property severely damaged.
During Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, fences were leveled, barns were destroyed, and livestock was killed or displaced. In Southeast Texas alone at least 20,000 head of livestock roamed loose. 30 TSC stores also suffered damage and loss of power, and some were forced to close for several days.
Before, during and after these storms, the Tractor Supply Co. team worked hard to ensure the people in those communities had their needs met. To help with the displaced livestock, TSC supplied stock tanks for clean water and alfalfa cubes to help with hungry and dehydrated animals. Before and after the storms, TSC continued to ship product directly from manufacturers to stores in affected areas, making sure there was a constant availability of needed supplies.
TSC team members and managers demonstrated heroic efforts – many putting in long hours in stores to take care of their neighbors when they had damage and power outages to deal with at their own homes. In one special instance after Hurricane Gustav, the Plaquemine, La., TSC store had no power as did most of the community. Generators were sorely needed. The team got the store up and running on generators and opened the doors to a community full of people in need of power. TSC team members worked side-by-side with faithful customers who came in to help direct heavy store traffic and load customer trucks. The local police kept the store’s generator fueled and escorted trucks packed with generators to the store.
TSC is proud of its team members for not only running great businesses but also being good neighbors.
