Good shallow well pump
Date:October 9, 2010
I used this pump along with a Shur-Dri SDPT20 pre-charged pressure tank. The tank has a pump mounting bracket on top which made the installation easier. I replaced an old Goulds JO5L, a pump and tank combination that did not require a lot of piping as the pump discharged water directly into the tank. The Shur-Dri did require some additional piping, but if you are familiar with residential water systems it is no problem. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish and only needed to reduce the tank air pressure to 30 pounds and raise the cutout pressure a couple pounds to 50 pounds. It is pretty quiet compared to the Goulds, but after 16 years of service any pump will get a bit noisey. The purchase saved me about $350.00 compared to a pump/tank combination made by Starite. Overall a good product, I would recommend these to anyone that has the skills to put the assembly together, not for the novice.
