Gardner-Gibson Fence-Post Black-Beauty Asphalt Fence Paint is a high performance waterbased paint for wood fences. This product penetrates and seals wood to provide a tough, weatherproof finish. Black Beauty helps prevents rot, decay, and reduces insect infestation on wooden surfaces. This easy to apply product is great for above and below grade applications. Black Beauty is also a great anti-corrosive coating for metal pipes, storage tanks and vertical masonry surfaces.

Do Not Use!!!

I am on my 3rd bucket and my fence looks terrible. I will be switching to the acrylic paint and hopefully it works better. My wood is dry and I am painting on warm days with no rain, but the paint washes right off. I am really disappointed that TSC sells such an inferior product. I plan on saying something to the manager, but doubt he will do anything since I no longer have my receipts.

On my Trailer

I built a wooden box on my 5'X8' trailer with 4X8 sheets of treated OSB and painted it with this product. Driving 70 MPH over 1000 miles in the blistering 100 degree texas and Arkansas heat, this paint didnt waiver. Still looks as good as when I put it on about 3 weeks ago. I will update this review in a couple months after the cold rain of Kentucky fall/winter sets in to let you know how it holds up to precipitation and cold weather. For now, however, I give it 5 stars because it covers GREAT. It's a little difficult to get it to adhere to treated wood at first but keep brushing/rolling and it covers nicely.

Never again

I used this on almost 1000 ft of 2 rail fence around my outdoor arena.Well stirred, used a brush,80 degree days with no rain in sight, clean treated lumber that is about 8 years old.Looked great when I was done and I got alot of compliments.8 months later it looks terrible.Worn off everywhere, not just in a certain area, all over.So this tells me it's not the wood,it's the product. It cost me alot of time and money and if I repaint it I don't think I will be able to paint over it.I'm not real happy.

Inferior product
Date:February 13, 2011
This product does not live it to its claims. I did research online for a week and decided to buy this paint after reading product specs and reviews. It has been 5 months since it was applied to a "fully cured" wood. Not green what so ever. Product was stirred constantly, applied with brush for good coverage, and it is peeling from the wood after 5 months. 2300 feet of fence now has to be repainted this summer. I will be using acrylic paint instead. I had one bucket of acrylic I bought from my neighbor that was left over from a small fence repair project he performed. The acrylic is still sticking to the wood. Go acrylic by all means, but do not buy this product. A waste of money!
