Description

The Standlee Hay Company provides quality products from outside producers such as Standlee Hay Premium Beet Pulp Pellets. Standlee Hay Company Beet Pulp Pellets originate from Idaho grown sugar beets. These pellets are made from the fibrous material (beet pulp) left over after the sugar is extracted from the sugar beet. Pellets are formed from dried sugar beet pulp with a small amount of molasses added during the drying process. These pellets are an excellent source of digestible fiber, with relatively low crude protein content. Beet pulp pellets are great for horses known as hard keepers or other animals that need to gain weight. Additionally, beet pulp pellets are a great choice for a convalescing horse or while recovering from an illness or surgery. Standlee Hay does not add molasses to its beet pulp products; the molasses is a result of the drying process at the sugar factory.

Ingredients:
Beet Pulp and Molasses.

Guaranteed Analysis:
Protein - Not Less Than 8%, Crude Fat - Not Less Than .25% , Crude Fiber - Not More Than 21%, Moisture - Not More Than 12%.

Feeding instructions:
Beet pulp pellets can be soaked for two hours with a ratio of 2 parts water with 1 part pellets and should be fed at ground level. To reduce sugar values, rinse pellets and then can be soaked to absorption. Do not use hot water as it will cook the pulp and will lose some of the nutritional value. If soaked, you can stir in the animals grain ration for improved appeal. Only soak the beet pulp pellets that are going to be used for each feeding as they can ferment, especially in hot summer months. Beet pulp pellets are not intended to be used as a sole source of nutrition and can be added as a supplement. One to two pounds of Beet Pulp Pellets would be a recommended daily amount for a 1,000 lb. horse.

This helped my older quarter horse gain weight.
Date:March 18, 2012
I soak a feed scoop worth in about 2 gallons of warm (not hot) water in a large pickle bucket till the pellets are fully expanded and have soaked up all the water, takes about 45 min, once a day. I also feed a nice quality grain feed at the same time. My older quarter horse mare needed weight put on her when she came to us and this beet suppliment was recommended to us by a TSC employee. She loves it with her grain and eats it first if she can nibble any that isn't mixed completely in with her feed. The bulk of it allows her to take her time finishing it as she's a very slow eater. The beet pulp enabled her to actually gain weight over her first winter with us. Though this product is heavy and kinda messy when fully engorged with water I would still recommend it to help put weight on a thinner horse.
