United States Stove Hot Blast Warm Air Furnace, 1,900 Sq. Ft. is rated 4.8889 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Furnace I have had mine for about 9 years and it has served me extremely well. I mostly burn coal 24/7 in the winter months. I had to drill out and break off teeth on the grates to allow air to flow better. Every couple years I buy a new grate and baffle piece for above, but the firebox, fan, thermostat, etc have all worked extremely well! I will buy another when(if) this one burns out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long Lasting Twenty three years ago I bought my first house, oil heat and 1325 sq ft up and 800 down. Owning a tree service meant tons of choice FREE wood. It was a no brainer and TSC had the only wood burning furnace in Louisville (if you don't count those pricey New England style freestanding guys) Anyway the 1300 wood/coal model went right to the basement next to the oil furnace. I piped the hot air outlets to the air plenhium over the oil heat exchanger and built a separate block chimney and was in business. The return was not used and the fan pulled from the basement and piped directly to the hvac. 23 years later this bad boy still rocks. Currently I use it to heat the pool, another story. As long as you usse properly dried wood and not overfire the unit it will last and last. If they had a larger model at the time I could have used it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job!! I needed something that really put out the heat to use in my 2 story garage as it is not insulated very well, and didn't want to buy a pellet stove as I cut wood anyway for my outdoor boiler anyway. This baby fits the bill. Takes about 25 minutes to ramp up and then the blower comes on and really pumps out the heat. I also bought the return air filter kit for dust control and the induced draft kit for a little finer temperature control. Good value and works for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I burn coal. For wood I would rate it a star less I bought this to heat my garage replacing a hot air oil furnace.  The ability to use coal in this made it a good choice for me and my brother has the larger model (twin blower motors) and heats his whole house with it for several years so I felt pretty comfortable that this was a decent product.  First, mine is installed exactly to manual specifications include min draft requirements etc. additionally i have made no "modifications" as you'll see some do to get it to operate for their needs. If you are going to burn coal, and are using anthracite (nut is the best for me as it is large enough not to fall through shaker grate, stove size was too large for my  stove and left a lot of clinchers) and are comfortable with starting, tending and loading a coal stove then I would think you'd be very happy with this stove  You will need to invest in a magnetic stove temp gauge and mount it midway above the load door and use this as your guide to prevent overfiring as the stove pipe will operate at lower temps with coal especially, but with the auto damper with wood as well...without the firebox gauge this stove is easy to overfire and damage particularly the flue plate and the shaker grate. I am able to get 8-12 hour burn time with a full firebox (to top of bricks) with coal...no where near that with wood...burning seasoned oak (1.5 years dry) loaded to top of firebricks results in maybe 4 hours tops and there is more heat loss up chimney with wood as it is designed to burn coal. The "lock nuts" on the handle are useless, plan on replacing these with washers and locking washers as the heat from the stove almost immediately melts the nylon inserts making the nuts "non locking" and falling on the floor.  The flue plate will warp if you over fire the stove...and as others have noted..the burn off of all the oils and chemicals used in production does create a lot of smoke and odor..so plan accordingly!  (Empty house, windows and doors opened etc) For the price? I don't know how you could beat this furnace...if blower motor holds up more than a year I will be very very happy!
