Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine - real world review This is a great time saver, and its really well made. It is also very powerful. In tall grass, my riding mower is the limiting factor, the trail mower can eat grass nearly as fast as you can give it to it. The machine fires right up, so well that I haven't replaced the battery after 3 seasons. I use this trail mower offset behind my "54 inch cutYard Tractor" and the time (and fuel) savings really made it worth it. I bought it on sale and saved about $200? The machine is fairly heavy. If I had known I would one day buy one of these, I would have bought a Garden tractor instead of a yard tractor. My yard tractor pulls this with absolutely no problems on level ground. On level ground, it is the best setup I've ever seen. In my own yard, complete with hills, my yard tractor sometimes struggles to pull this machine. Sometimes it is wheelspin, sometimes power. I changed both drive pulleys on my yard tractor this year, and the lack of pulling power seems to be gone, but I find myself babying the riding mower from past experience. Part of my yard rises about 15 ft over a span of 200 ft. I can pull the trail mower at full speed up that hill without issue, but not easily from a dead stop. Accelerating up a hill like that would be easier with a garden tractor. I have gotten extremely good at judging exactly where the edge of the mower will cut. In some areas I will actually trim with it. It is also good for cutting under low hanging limbs. Cutting around turns: Mine trails offset to the left of my tractor with about 8" of overlap recutting what the rider just cut; on gradual turns, there are no issues. On sharp left hand turns, there is about a foot gap between the rider and the trail mower (no big deal based on the time saved overall - just requires retracing some of the path). On Sharp right hand turns the trail mower will practically follow my riders path. This can be good knowledge when trying to thread a 9 ft wide mowing rig through a 6 foot opening. I back up with this trail mower, I've been backing trailers up longer than I've had a drivers license. The hitch supplied with this was NOT made for backing up. It is sturdy enough, but attaches to your mower with a single bolt. You would have to tighten the bolt frequently if you dont want the hitch to flop side to side. This complaint is really minor, but it does impact your ability to precisely manuever while backing up. I had the belt come off 1 time. My fault. This mower is not a wood chipper. Specifically, if you plan to hit the end of a 1.5 in diameter or larger tree limb with it, plan on stopping and putting the belt back on. I would buy this again. I have recommended it to friends. I have had many people ask where they can get one after seeing it perform.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good but could use improvement I bought this mower last year (2011) It had sat out uncovered all winter in TSC's outside lot, no paperwork with it. Got a lower price as a result. Two tires had dry rot and leaked, had to repair. Engine is great, starts every time. Deck needs washout ports because kept clogging/poor cut performance until I installed two which helps prevent build up. There is a lot of vibration, especially the fuel tank and blade engage handle. Tow bar is a weak link, I mow 8 hilly acres and tow it behind a 54" rider. Hitch bows and bends a lot so I rigged a cable with turnbuckle to avoid a broken weld or permenantly damaged hitch . Went through 2 drive belts the first season (engine to blade). Burned the center blade bearings/shaft/housing this year, ordered new ones on line. Much of this was probably due to the first year "taming" 4.5 previously neglected acres so I can't fault the machine. It does a good job overall but definitely a light duty mower. Hitch reinforcement and washout ports were cheap and easy to add and help a lot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mows great but had few problems with the belts I bought this to mow 3 acres and help clear 7 more acres with it some, does great but some areas have to mow over a second time, on the 3rd belt and this time I bought a different brand and have had no problems with it. I have used it 3 times in 4 months and getting ready to mow the rest of my place with it.
