Exide Stowaway Deep Cycle Marine/RV -Deep Cycle Battery, 27MDCST is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a Super RV & Boat Battery! I've been using two of these Stowaway deep cycle batteries on a fully equiped travel trailer for 3 years now. They've been discharged and recharged many, many times yet still hold their charge and provide full power just as long as when they were new. Many times I've drained these things down where even the simple carbon monoxide detector in the trailer would not work, let alone a lightbulb! Clearly they have been the best, longest lasting batteries I've ever owned. So, this year I plan to replace 3 of another brand that are in our 31ft cruising sailboat with new Stowaways also. Oh yeah, the sensible price is just frosting on the cake. Thank you TSC!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Deep cycle batteries Deep cycle batteries are called "deep cycle" because they are made to be discharged to low energy levels and the rapidly charge without damaging the plates and electrolite. This is acheived by using thicker plates and higher quality electrolite that is less suseptable to sulferization durring long periods of non-use. Normal batteries can't handle this abuse because deep discharge changes the chemical make up of the electrolite and fast charge warps the plates which causes them to short to each other and renders the battery usless. It is generally agreed apon that installing a deep cycle battery in a car is not a good idea because they have lower cold cranking amps and if you live in a cold climate durring those cold winter mornings the battery may not beable to turn the engine over. But I have found that this may only be true in larger engines and not too much of an issue with most 4 and six cylinder engines below 3.0 liters. If your someone who kills your battery by leaving the headlights on then a deep cycle battery maybe a good idea. Most alternators charge at 40 to 60 or even some 120 Amps. Normal batteris can't handle being charged at a high rate because of the what I mentioned above. A deep cycle battery is just built better and tougher and last longer in most applications. If you have trouble with one its probably because it was abused durring shipment and not due to the quality of the battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Battery We bought the Stowaway marine deep cycle battery for our solar charged, battery operated entry gate, and in no time at all it needed recharging (we performed a slow deep cycle charge before installing it). It almost immediately began leaking water. Now, when we try recharging it, the water boils out, which of course includes lots of acid. Then the battery goes bone dry. Refilling does no good, it just boils out when charging begins. I'll never buy one of these again. Perhaps it's a lemon or a fluke, but we've never had such an extremely poor performance battery.
