Coat Finishing Treatment | Brand : Farnam® | Horse : Yes | Life Stage : Any | Type : Gel | Package Size : 16 oz. | Main Ingredients : Surfactants, tea tree oil More

Farnam® Excalibur® Sheath & Udder Cleaner is a gentle cleanser that softens, loosens and removes accumulated body oils, dirt and debris (smegma). Contains tea tree oil imported from Australia to gently dissolve smegma and help speed up the cleansing process. Rinses out easily and will not leave a residue on the skin. Non-irritating, specially formulated for equine usage.

1 bottle contains 16 oz. of Excalibur cleaner

Ingredients:
Surfactants, tea tree oil

Directions:
For the sake of cleanliness, disposable gloves should be used by the individual preforming this cleaning task. Excessively cold water should be avoided for the horse's comfort. Squeeze out a liberal amount of Excalibur® Sheath & Udder Cleaner into palm of hand and apply to the sheath or udder. Gently massage into a rich lather. Allow 3-5 minutes for Excalibur® Sheath & Udder Cleaner to soften and loosen smegma. Rinse thoroughly.

For Sheath Cleaning:
Work into the folds of the sheath. Next, gently pull the horse's penis out of the sheath and, using pieces of cotton batting, gently remove the loose smegma. Occasionally, smegma will accumulte in a mass in the "blind pouch" above the opening of the urethra in the end of the horse's penis. This resulting "bean" may become large enough to interfere with urination if not removed. After all presence of smegma has been removed, rinse the horse's sheath and penis as thoroughly as possible with clean water. If a horse will accept it, a gently flowing water hose may be used to flush out the sheath.

Frequency of Use:
Most geldings and stallions should have their sheaths cleaned at least every 6 months. Light-pigmented genital areas, such as in Pintos, tend to develop accumulations more quickly; therefore, will require more frequent cleaning.
Stallions: A breeding stallion needs to be washed before and after breeding a mare. Washing not only cleanses the penis, but also helps to stimulate the stallion in preparation for breeding.
Mares: A smegma-like substance occasionally collects between the teats of a mare's udder. This material can cause irritation to the mare resulting in her rubbing her tail; therefore, mares should be checked periodically for cleanliness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The dirty deed made easier! Owning a stallion or a gelding isn't the most fun at sheath cleaning time. Not only do non-horsey people think your'e gross, you really need to shield the process from young children. The job sure is made easier with Excalibur. This is the only product I use. It loosens the smegma, even the sticky stuff- and rinses clean, with a nice pleasant smell.
