Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cub Cadet Tiller I bought this machine before I had read any of the reviews. I read the reviews before I used it and I was concerned about the transmission. Looking back a month later, I've broken and tilled about one and a quarter acres. The motor is great. The only time it's bogged down is when I buried the tines and when I hit a piece of buried conduit. I even hit one half of a set of tire chains. Stopped the machine, unwound the chains from the tines and set the chain aside. The motor started right up and away I went. The transmission can be balky. In the beginning, the shifter was sticky and hard to move. It has seemed to "wear in" as time has passed. It is easy to move between settings I use the most often. But I have spent a lot of time operating this tiller and another person might not see the same results as quickly. I just had to show some patience. On flat ground, this is an easy machine to use. But on the hillsides, it can be a handful. You can't forget that it weighs 250 pounds. A tank of fuel lasts over 3 hours for me. I think this motor is a gem. If you have large areas to do or lots of clayey soils (like me), this tiller will do a good job for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rear Tine Tiller I have used one of these tillers for a complete season. In many ways it is a good tiller. I have had no breakdowns and it starts easy enough even after sitting extended periods of time. The ONLY thing I would like to see done differently with this tiller is for there to be more weight on it or different tires. When tilling at maximum depth it does not have sufficent traction. I have to continously lift the handlebars slightly to get it to move forward. When using the forward tine rotation I have to be on a constant watchout for it taking off and running too fast because the front end is not heavy enough to make the tires bite and hold it back. I have a large garden and other than that probem it works great. I would definately reccomend it to a friend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A strong performer I bought this tiller last year and while it did a great job, the weight on the front of the tiller fell off while tilling. I think it was just poorly assembled, not a defect. Besides that, the machine has performed well, even on hard clay soil. If you buy one, just be sure to check for loose nuts, bolts, ect as you should with any new equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A tough piece of equiptment, probily the best in its class. I have rocky soil that has never been worked. It broke up the sod and kicked up the rocks. Once in a while large rocks will push out the side plates and bend them but not a big deal to straighten out. Easy start with first pull. Front weight on machine balances it just right if you need to lift it over larger rocks. Still have'nt lowered it below 3" setting but it not the fault of the machine, just Tennessee rocky soil. Could'nt of had a vegetable garden without this rugged machine.
