Cub Cadet® 33 in. 420cc Heavy-Duty Wide Area Mower with Front Caster Wheels and Electric Start is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from something new I have had two previous wide area self ptopelled walk behind mowers from different manufacturers. While their quality was quite good they had one troubling issue to deal with. I always had to run behind the mowers instead of walking, even in the lowest gear. This isn't an issue with this mower. The walking pace is quite comfortable and the mower is still very easy to maneuver; even though lt is manually steered. I can't tell you what a pleasant surprise that was! The fuel economy was excellent as I cut my entire yard on about a 1/4 tank of gas. Not to bad for a 1/2 acre. I experienced no scalping problems on uneven ground and had no clumping what so ever; even though some of my yard was still a little wet because of not getting sun till late afternoon. If anyone was thinking about this type of mower, but shying away because of the prior mentioned problem then this mower will eleviate those concerns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME CUB CADET!!! Saw this mower at Tractor Supply looked like it was made for tough jobs.Bought it to cut acreage after such a wet winter & could not put a tractor on it. Did a fantastic job has a lot of power cut the 3-4 foot tall grass with no problem. Now it is mowing the acreage & does a beautiful manicure job.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good start, could be better This initial review is after only one use of my newly purchased 760es. First impression is very good to excellent regarding the electric start and power. Engine fired right up with the first turn of the ignition, which you would expect when brand new. Anything less would be a severe disappointment. Engine power appears to be plentiful for the task. It did not bog down in higher than normal grass, even with the self propelled engaged, and going up a slight incline. Hopefully, these won't change after a season of use. Blade height adjustment is smooth, quick and easy with one lever on the deck. Very convenient. The cut is even with no missed blades of grass. The cutting blades overlap so there is no gap between them, so there is no chance of leaving a strip of uncut grass, which is prevalent on some twin blade mowers One thing I must say, if you've not had anything larger than the average 21" walk behind, be prepared to exert a little more effort to maneuver this unit. Going from a mower that weighs maybe 50 to 80 pounds, to one that is 250lbs takes some getting use to. Having said that, there are some things about this mower that could have used some more thought in the design. You must have both the blade control (on the right handle) and the drive control (on the left handle) depressed at the same time to keep moving and cutting. If you want to scratch and itch, wipe sweat from your eye, or pick your nose, you can't do it without disengaging one of these operations, which is annoying. If you let go of the blade control, you've just passed several feet (depending on how fast you're going) without cutting any grass. So, you have to stop , put it in reverse, or man handle it backwards, to cut what you've just missed. If you let go of the drive control, it stops suddenly and you end up running in to the mower handle if you're walking at a swift pace. In conjunction with this is the speed control. Again, not adjustable without letting go of one of the other controls. So, you can't adjust your walking speed on the fly. Lastly is mulching. To be frank, it does not do a good job if the grass is even a little high. I cut the lawn once a week. It probably should be done twice a week during the peak growing season, but I don't. My previous mower, that I've had for 23 years, mulched perfectly, even in tall grass. I don't know if it is a blade speed issue, or blade design, but at any rate, this is a feature that needs improvement. Overall, I like the mower. Starting, power, deck height adjustment and maneuverability are good. Mulching and machine control convenience are low.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Wide Area Walk Behind Mower Available I have waited a year before submitting this review, in order to have a full season worth of operating hours and experience to report on. I can now say this mower was a GREAT PURCHASE. I would buy it again, AND I highly recommend it to others as well. I bought it to cut down the mowing time of my very hilly yard, of over a half acre. It has indeed seriously reduced my mowing time. We get incredible amounts of Spring-time rain where I live, and the grass gets very high and thick very quickly. This mower shrugs off high grass, basically "laughs at it", and yet leaves a beautiful finish cut to boot. And it performs under these "high load" conditions while in mulching mode, no less. I especially like the appearance of the finish cut it leaves. It resembles professional lawn service results, including a "striped" appearance. Durability is a big concern for me, and I like the construction of this machine. The frame is fabricated using robotic welders. Thus, all the welds are very substantial, straight as an arrow and uniform. The frame and deck are both constructed of heavy gauge metals (the deck is heavier gauge than those on some riding mowers). To prevent rust, the unit is powder coated. Plus, the included jet spray wash port in the deck WILL extend deck life, if used regularly. If handled properly (avoid stumps, rocks etc.) and cleaned and maintained according to schedule, I FULLY expect to get 15 years of use from this mower. I also want to comment on the adverse reviews. I have had NO problems with either the power drive belt or the blade drive belt jumping off (nor any other problems of any kind, such as cables). On my unit, both the power drive belt and blade drive belt have "belt keepers" strategically located around them to prevent them jumping off. (On my unit, you literally can't remove the belts without first removing the belt keepers.) I am speculating that some bad reviews may be for units that shipped with one or more belt keepers missing. My suggestion: After you purchase this mower, regardless of whether you have a problem, find an Authorized Cub Cadet Dealer. In the unlikely event you do have an issue, they will be able to quickly diagnose and address it (belt keepers are cheap to purchase and install). In addition, many dealers also offer off-season tune-up specials, where they will pick-up the mower at your house, take it to their shop and perform all annual/seasonal maintenance (oil, oil filter, spark plug, air filter, sharpen blades, clean/lubricate chassis, etc.) and return it to your doorstep ready for the next season, for a very reasonable price. To sum up, I did extensive research before making this purchase, and frankly there's simply no Wide Area Walk Behind Mower out there for homeowners that comes close to the Cub Cadet (and the Troy-Bilt) in terms of power, durability, usability and value. I HIGHLY recommend this mower.
