Rated 3 out of 5 by from weak support tabs I had to take the support arm to the local welding shop to buttress the tabs that hold the digging arm. Too much play. They need to find a way to eliminate the play at that spot. Protective shrouds on driveline are too long. With 5/16" shear bolt in the nut chews up the shroud. Other than that I like it a lot. Here's a pic of my setup that lets me chew threw leachite.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too much wiggle I have had this Post Hole digger for 3 years and it has done everything I need it to do. I also bought the 9" & 12" auger bit for it. The only problem I had was having to replace the "A" frame for it because it had too much play and caused side to side shifting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A+ Digger This is an excellent post hole digger for the money. The sheer pin is very easy to get to and ensures that nothing serious breaks inside the gearbox. Definitely a back saver and it gets the job done very quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Post hole digger I have had this post hole digger for about 6 years now. This digger really works. The land I got is partly clay and sand rock. The digger goes through it like you were digging through sand. Had not had any problems with it and I do a lot of digging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth it. Unit worked very well. Did get some crooked holes at first but was my fault for going too fast. After a few practice holes I pretty much had it down. For me the key was starting off dropping it SLOWLY, bringing back up and repeat. This unit help me finish a job in 3 hours that if done manually would have taken 2 days…at least. Also, get the proper bushings if the pins are sloppy in your hitch. Would definitely recommend this piece of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Buy This digger is a great tool, even for a 72 year old man. I can hook it up by myself. I use it on a 231 MF and I dig holes with the engine idling. It’s that easy. I have both 6” and 12” bits. This is a smooth operating machine. I should’ve bought this tool before I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and remove from John Deere 2720 I purchased the digger in January, 2013 from the Warsaw, NY store and I installed it on my John Deere 2720 and used it to dig holes for my deck. It worked flawlessly. I used it again this fall to dig holes to plant trees and again it worked flawlessly. I purchased the 12 inch auger which worked well for what I needed. The ground is clay and some stone and as of today, I have not sheared the pin. If using a Deere, make sure that you have it adjusted correctly or it will hit when you raise it up. Great value and highly reccomend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not To Bad Not a bad auger, mounted it on my cat 2 Deere. If you do that make sure you keep many shear pins around. We broke 6 fencing a 21 acre field. Wish the gear box came filled with oil..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product for the money I've been using this digger for a year now and it has done everything I've asked it to do. Wish it was easier to mount to the tractor though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of equipment I have had this for about 2 years now and I have pretty much abused it. it has held up very well and would buy another one in a minute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great deal I bought this piece of equiptment 2 days ago and it has really been a lifesaver it digs holes quick and beats doing it manually on these hot Louisiana days

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition This was a great addition to the equipment we own. It was suggested by the TSC employee to go with a 9" auger and she couldn't have been more correct. A good product at a good price. It is a huge back saver.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Equipment Works very well. On a JD 2305, the boom bangs into the body, but you just need to be careful. Easy operation, NO noise, makes holes with virtually no effort. Sheer pin is easy to replace. Gear unit does not come with oil, so remember to add the first time and check before every operation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good product I have had my hole digger now for 2 months bought it with a 9" auger it makes very very short work of digging a post hole like just a few seconds and you will have a hole 4'deep hole.worth every dime I paid and look forward to many years of use out of it...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great post hole digger for the money I wsa very apprehensive about this post hole digger because of the low price and the fact that my tractor is 100 hp, but it performed flawlessly for me for the 30+ holes I have used it for. My ground is clay loam and very rocky. I did shear several shear pins, but that is to be expected in rocky soil. Since I had a big tractor on it, I ran it at a fast idle. I would suggest that speed no matter what size tractor you use. It dug with no problems, so I found no reason to vary the speed. I used both the 9" and 12" augers. After using both, my recommendation would be to save your money and buy only the 12" auger. The 3" difference is negligible and, for most applications, the extra hole size works well. I saw one review that complained about crooked holes. Every 3 point hitch post hole digger I have ever used (and I have used the high priced ones) had the same problem. This unit has a hole to insert a steel pipe or bar to assist with guiding the auger (which helps a lot), but leverage makes it want to go crooked. The only post hole diggers I have ever seen that didn't have this problem were the hydraulic units that go on a skid steer and tilt hydraulically. All-in-all, I don't think you can beat this post hole digger, especially for the money it costs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality unit Very smooth gear box, easy to assemble. I have even used this unit with a tree hole auger about 18", and it runs very smooth. Other units I have used have alot of gear noise under load, not this one

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Heavy Duty Digging Companion As the harsh weather and accumulated years of existence abused what use to be new line fencing, I had to make a decision and quick. Spring was quickly approaching and Max, the Paint gelding, had already walked through the once new fence twice. It didn't help that my neighbor was feeding him grain on these visits, either. I told my mother that I had to buy a post hole digger and it just happened TSC had one advertisted in their flyer. I drove over to my dependable store and asked to see it. The heavy duty construction impressed me, because I had at least 175 new posts to install. Needless to say, the post hole digger did not let me down. It quickly dug holes with ease. I recommend this unit for everyone. It surely is a gem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Make your life easier! I bought this to use on my 1945 Ford 8N. Its a pretty small tractor and I wondered if it could handle this auger. It does and beautifully! It is quick to connect, easy to use, and makes fast work of drilling those corner and pull poles. I have the 6" auger but I am looking at the 12" for long lasting corners. It is easy to maneuver and very easy to add or change gear fluid. This is a must for weekend or full time ranchers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beats digging by hand I bought this to put fence around 7 acres. I drilled over 300 holes with it and it made short work of drilling. You have to be prepared to straighten out the holes by hand as digging a straight hole is virtually impossible since the 3 pt hook up just leaves too much slop and there is just no way to tighten it up significantly. I'd buy it again, it did what I bought it for. When I did put it away, I pulled the auger off and laid it down and oil POURED out of it. Not sure how the oil drained out of the gearbox into the auger, but clearly you need to keep tabs on the oil level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super slick I checked the other reviews before going for this - and I would have to agree with the other reviewers that this is a great implement to have whether a big time or part time landowner. I thank the other reviewer who noted it does not come with oil in the gearbox - the TSC employee who helped me did not know that. I purchased the 9 inch auger with this. Middle aged female that I am - I was able to unpack and assemble myself and use the same afternoon. Not sure how it will go once I unhook from the tractor and need to rehook it up but that will be no fault of the digger. I am using on a Ferguson TO30.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 pt. auger Buying this 12" auger was a great investment.....Easy to hook-up, virtually no maintance. And, it has really saved us time, money and back aches as well!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The price was within my budget at the time I need I bought this at the new TSC store in New Holland Pa. The staff there was prompt in serving me and it was loaded on my trailer before I paid the bill. Thanks every one. The pto shield is secured with non common fasteners. When I was finished with the digger, it appears as if you must disassemble the unit to unhook from the tractor. Why not offer a stand?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth Every Penny! I own a vineyard out in Southern, VA and on planting day we used the tractor supply post digger with a 12" auger bit. We drilled over 1,600 holes in one day with no issues! Some mentioned a shear bolt breaking all the time, but not have broken a single one in our hard clay. It took me about 30min to setup the post digger and fill the gear box with oil and we were ready to dig. For the price as the other post hole diggers, you cannot beat this product! A++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has worked great for me I have had this for about 8 month and have drilled about 100 holes. This is my first 3-point mounted and I wish I had gotten it a lot sooner. I have had no real trouble with it. The only issue that I would change is the access to the sheer pin but I don't know maybe compared to some this ones not too bad. Also like some other people have side it may have a tendency to drift to one side or the other especially if you hit a rock, ledge or root in my area. I make sure that I get the draw arms as tight as possible and have someone try to pull the bar over and sometimes that helps

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Get a pocket full of shear bolts This digger works fine. Haven't had any problems with the 6" bit. However, everytime I use the 12" I shear a bolt, and that's being very careful to feed it slow and pick it up often. Now, to be honest, there's a lot of clay below my topsoil and it's hard when it's dry and gummy when it's wet. I have to replace the shear bolt from the generic bolt bins at Tractor Supply and I don't think they are really designed as shear bolts, too brittle. I also find 1 a little too big and the next smaller has slack in the fit and doesn't fit very tight. That may be the problem. I'm going to a fastener specialty store today and try to get a Grade 5 that fits a little tighter, even if it's metric..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Crooked Hole Digger Overall I would have to say that I'm pretty disapointed in this unit. The boom has a poor design with too much slop often causing crooked holes, even after I shimmed it as much as I could with washers and installed stabilizer bars on my 3 point. While it does drive holes fast and quietly, when they don't end up where you want them do to drift from the sloppy boom that significantly increases the time needed to do a good job. So unless they redesign the boom with tighter tolerances I can not recomend this unit.
