Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This thing earns its keep on my farm in Upstate New York. In the last 3 years I've split more than 20 cords of big hardwood pieces through this splitter. Some of it in excess of 36" diameter and it does it handily. I have mine attached to a 30 HP Kubota at the accessory lines on the side of the tractor. I used quick disconnect couplers and lines I bought at Tractor Supply when I bought the splitter. I bought 14' lines as I use the splitter attached t the 3 point hitch and that length was needed to run to the rear of the tractor and allow full vertical motion of the unit when mounted on the 3 point hitch. I also altered the quick disconnect couplers male/female so I didn't have to figure out which line is which every time I wan to use it. Male to female, can't screww it up. As to the legs that come with the splitter, I just use them when I store the splitter away after use. I take them off completely when using the splitter on the tractor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid well made machine I would give this splitter an extra star if I could, its that good. Very solid, stout piece of equipementl, should last a lifetime. Before my first use I cut the 4 included stand legs square and welded an angle iron box arount them (see pics). I then added 4 removable casters, this allows for easily moving the unit on concrete for storage. When not in use I attach the casters and push it flat against a garage wall taking up very little room, they also make connection to the 3 point very easy. When splitting wood the casters come off and I lower the stand on two 4x4 blocks, very stable platform for horizontal splitting. To use the splitter vertically I raise it slightly and then swing it off of the cradle. Simple and very solid! It has split everything I had, including 2' diameter knotted green fir without a hickup. I used 1/2" x 10' lines attached to my tractor, they were available with the couplings at Tractor Supply for about 1/3 the cost at NAPA. Highly recommend it. I would for sure make the stand modifications with removable castors, it makes it both solid when in use and easy to move and store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3 point splitter A real nice splitter for the money ! Works beautiful with a small compact tractor. Make sure you have at least 6gpm of flow on your hydraulics & you should be fine . One less engine to maintain with this unit ! Compared to a pull behind.Plus the brother inlaw can't borrow this so easily !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does the job At 63 with a sore back it was time for my first log splitter. This afternoon I split a 24"h X33"d butt end of an oak tree that was cut a year ago. It handled the log without an issue. I would still be beating on that one by hand. The splitter is attached to a JD 855 with a 5.6 gpm pump with 2,050 psi. Cycle time is 25 seconds as the manual said it would be. That gives me just enough time to turn around and get another log from the pile to split. Only complaint is the support legs, which should be braced. When returning the splitter from vertical to horizontal, the pin will not align unless the legs are squeezed together with a binder. After 10 hours of use, I am glad that I made the purchase.
