A work saver
Date:April 2, 2012
Purchased this unit with a 12" auger for use on my JD1050. Unit can be installed by (1) person in about ten minutes. Will ever use a shovel to dig holes again. Don't understand how other people had problem with crooked holes. Mine were nice a straight. Cut right threw 1/2" roots with no problem. Golf ball size rocks weren't an issue.. Highly recommended for the price. Good quality.

Worked as designed
Date:March 5, 2012
This auger did an exceptional job in digging post holes. We had no problem at all assembling and were provided gear oil from our local TSC. The instructions were easy to follow and after a few practice holes, we were able to confidently start our fencing project. I would definitely recommend this product as i felt it was priced resonably and works great.

Well worth it.

Unit worked very well. Did get some crooked holes at first but was my fault for going too fast. After a few practice holes I pretty much had it down. For me the key was starting off dropping it SLOWLY, bringing back up and repeat. This unit help me finish a job in 3 hours that if done manually would have taken 2 days…at least. Also, get the proper bushings if the pins are sloppy in your hitch. Would definitely recommend this piece of equipment.

A great post hole digger for the money
Date:September 12, 2011
I wsa very apprehensive about this post hole digger because of the low price and the fact that my tractor is 100 hp, but it performed flawlessly for me for the 30+ holes I have used it for.
My ground is clay loam and very rocky. I did shear several shear pins, but that is to be expected in rocky soil. Since I had a big tractor on it, I ran it at a fast idle. I would suggest that speed no matter what size tractor you use. It dug with no problems, so I found no reason to vary the speed.
I used both the 9" and 12" augers. After using both, my recommendation would be to save your money and buy only the 12" auger. The 3" difference is negligible and, for most applications, the extra hole size works well.
I saw one review that complained about crooked holes. Every 3 point hitch post hole digger I have ever used (and I have used the high priced ones) had the same problem. This unit has a hole to insert a steel pipe or bar to assist with guiding the auger (which helps a lot), but leverage makes it want to go crooked. The only post hole diggers I have ever seen that didn't have this problem were the hydraulic units that go on a skid steer and tilt hydraulically.
All-in-all, I don't think you can beat this post hole digger, especially for the money it costs.
